Boyyy has this platform gone down hill. I’ve been using Pinterest since its beginning days but the more I use it nowadays, the more frustrated I get. Every other “pin” is an ad, the app and site are constantly glitching forcing a refresh, I have to click another button to access pin source instead of just clicking the photo (which now launches a useless image search feature), and I could go on and on… I hope the creators are taking the multitude of complaints into account. Unfortunately, there’s nothing quite comparable to Pinterest out there yet, otherwise I fear I would switch over.

For the last several years, there has been no browser extension for macOS Safari. Instead, I had to resort to a Javascript bookmarklet, which worked most of the time but not always. Finally, the folks at Pinterest have released a Safari extension that adds a button to easily pin the web page you're looking at. It seems to work well. One note: it seems that, as pointed out in the App Store description, you do have to grant the extension "Always Allow on Every Website" rights for it to successfully connect to your Pinterest account. When I tried using the setting to allow only selected websites and ask for others, the connection failed when it attempted to redirect back to the page from which I started. However, once the account connection is established, you can change the extension setting back to "For other websites: Ask" and it seems to work.

So the pinterest accessed by Safari was not working, so I decided to download the app, thinking it would help me. But boy, was I wrong.When I first downloaded it and opened it, it told me that "Save to Pinterest's extention is currently on. You can turn it off in Safari extensions preferences." It gave me a button to go there, so I did. It took me to some random page where I could turn off the extention. When I did that and opened up Pinterest again, it told me the exact same thing, but off instead of on. So I clicked the button again, and it brought me to Safari. And it's just been repeating this cycle over and over again. It just doesn't work in general. 1/5 would not reccomend.

I've relied on Pinterest for over a decade and am extremely disappointed they no longer allow users to make a note with their pins. To use Pinterest like I need, it's critical to be able to write a quick note - or edit the title of the pin - so I can find what I'm looking for. I've wasted huge amounts of time digging through my pins to find what I need, and it's so cumbersome that I've stopped using the site altogether. Please Pinterest!! Allow us to write a note on our pins OR at least allow us to change the titles of our pins so we can specify important details!!!
