Cinematic Rendering is a novel physically based volume rendering method which computes in real-time photorealistic 3D renderings of medical data.
Cinematic Rendering builds on an advanced rendering pipeline supporting a significantly more complex illumination model, which integrates numerous light- scattering, absorption, and shadowing effects that are important for visual perception in the everyday environment making the images very realistic.
Cinematically rendered CT images allowed clinicians to understand patient anatomy more quickly and with a greater degree of accuracy than conventional CT, according to an article recently published online in JAMA Surgery [1].
Combining these images with spatial computing, means adding another dimension to the understanding of complex anatomical information and new ways to interact.
