I started PhaseFlow in early 2024 as a simple interval timer for my own training. It is still the app I train with, and over time it learned the one thing I kept wanting from it: remembering what I did last time. Here is what it does, in plain words. YOU BUILD A WORKOUT FROM PHASES Prepare, work, rest, cool down. Each phase gets a name and a duration, or no duration at all. Put phases in a Repeat for rounds and sets, or in a Group to keep an exercise's sets together. If you don't want to start from nothing, pick a template: HIIT and Tabata, a stretching flow, straight sets, pyramids and drop sets, supersets and circuits, AMRAP, EMOM, for time, or one long steady effort. A template is just a workout you can edit. TIMED PHASES ARE COUNTED OUT LOUD A spoken countdown leads into every phase, and short cues tell you when to work, when to rest and when you are nearly done. Your music only dips while a cue is spoken. If you would rather train in silence, switch the voice off. UNTIMED PHASES WAIT FOR YOU A set of squats takes as long as it takes. The clock counts up, your last result and your target stay on screen, and you tap Done when you are done. Before a weighted set, the Prepare phase shows what to load. THEN YOU WRITE DOWN WHAT HAPPENED Reps, weight, rounds, time, distance, a note. Only the measures you chose for that exercise, and only what you actually save. If a rest follows, it starts counting while you type. Next time, the same set shows last session's result beside it, and History keeps every session on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. An unfinished session can be picked up where you left it. ON YOUR WRIST Workouts run on the Apple Watch on their own, with a tap at every phase change, and you can enter results right there. Your workouts and sessions sync through your own iCloud account between iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. There is no PhaseFlow account, and I cannot see your data. WHILE IT RUNS On iPhone, the Live Activity shows the current phase on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with pause, skip and stop. Siri can pause, resume, skip or stop a workout. If a workout is already running on your other device, the app offers to take it over. A FEW HONEST LIMITS The interface and the spoken cues are in English. Spoken cues need the app open: when the phone locks or you switch apps, iOS may suspend the app and the voice may stop, while the Live Activity keeps counting. PhaseFlow measures elapsed time and nothing else. It does not write to Apple Health, and it does not track you. VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion are supported. You choose whether the screen stays awake and whether a phone call pauses your workout. Requires iOS or iPadOS 18.5 or later, and watchOS 11.5 or later for the watch app. If something does not work the way you expect, write to me at info@verilob.com. I read every message.
