Fixed a couple of rough edges: When you are navigating, and the map is following your current location, you can now zoom in while keeping the map following your location. First time users who haven't yet given location permissions will be prompted for their current location when asking for navigation directions. Show "you've arrived" screen more pro-actively - it used to be hit or miss if you weren't quite close enough. Experimental "offline maps" mode will download map tiles for a prescribed area. Note that routing and search will not work while offline. This is an experimental feature, and as such, any map data you download might be lost between app updates.

Biking and walking directions now include an elevation profile. Yay! Also, you can now "save" all your favorite places so they're always just a boop away.

Fixed a hang/freeze during search. Sorry about that.

This release fixes an issue during navigation where the map would start to bounce back and forth between locations.

Made the "end of trip" UI a little more convenient. Previously, when you completed a trip you'd be taken back just one step, ready to start the same trip again. But you just completed that trip, why would you want to start it again? So instead, now you're taken back to the "place details" page. And we've cleared the search bar for you, so you're ready to start your next trip a little faster next time. Also, while navigating, you should now see a label for the road you're currently traveling along.

Reworked the turn-by-turn navigation you see after pressing "GO" — we hope it works a little more smoothly for you. We now assume you want the same travel mode you wanted last time, so we don't have to keep showing you car directions when you're biking everywhere.

You can now explicitly choose "Current Location" when editing origin/destination. This is also handy if your current location has changed since you first asked for directions. For transit, show realtime departure icon when we have that information, plus we now correctly label the transit stop. Transit not supported in your area yet? Contact info@maps.earth and let us know. If you were a user who chose "Allow Once" when granting Location permissions, you might have noticed that the app eventually stopped updating your location on the map, showing you where you used to be instead of where you are now. That's because the "allow once" permission expires after leaving the app for a little while. Previously when you started navigation, there was a very frenetic zoom animation. It still looks dumb because your "current location puck" floats onto the map, but at least it's less frenetic now. With this release, "Allow Once" users will now be re-prompted once their location permission expires. Plus some little U.I. zhuzh here and there.

* Places now have a shareable link. Send it to a friend, and if they have the maps.earth mobile app installed, the link will open up in the app. If they don't have the app they'll be taken to a similar screen on the maps.earth website. * When you're navigating, and you finally get to where you're going, we now automatically end navigation for you and show a cheerful "You Have Arrived" screen. This affirmation seemed better than leaving you in routing purgatory forever. * You can now tap a place or longpress on the map to see details about it. * Fixed: Panning or zooming the map during navigation no longer causes your "current location" marker to slide around erratically.

Check out the new navigation mode, which shows your progress along your route. Just tap "GO" after you've picked your route. Buildings are now rendered in 3d. Holy smokes. User location is now requested at first launch — the old behavior confused some users who just assumed it'd ask.

If you aren't ready to catch the bus just yet, you can now set your departure (or arrival) time for transit trips. Also, if you are a fellow cyborg who bikes from bus to bus, transit routing now has the option to "bring your bike" when calculating your best trip. As a bonus, bus+bike gives the best biking directions I've seen anywhere. Now that we support bus+bike, we render the bike portion of the route as a dashed line so you can easily distinguish it from the bus portion. "Recent Searches" increased from 5 to 10. 5 places was not enough. Previously, "Recent Searches" were only shown when typing into the initial search field. Now they are also available as choices when you edit your source/destination.

- Show recent searches, so you can quickly return to the places you love. - You can now click on one of the alternate routes on the map directly rather than having to scroll through the list. - Polish up the layout of the search bar. - Show an activity indicator while the search is loading. - Show custom route colors for transit lines when available (e.g. the 1 line in Seattle).
