I like the app alot i feel like its helping me be more mindful of what I eat. The only thing that kinda bugs me is the AI seems to wayyy over estimate calories. I logged a small bag of popcorn which is 140 for one bag . The AI told me it was 775 calories for some reason. I know it's not gonna be 100% accurate all the time but its happened with a number of different foods. I also think it would be nice if you could type in calories rather than scroll through them all. It would also be good if the app could be more accurate about specific brands of snacks and drinks. 1 Cup of skinny pop has less calories than 1 cup of most other popcorns but the app doesn't seem to know brands at all. Last note is that I think the calorie counter should be included in the free version, otherwise theres not a whole lot of tracking you can do without paying.UPDATE: actually had to stop using the app. I didn't realize that changing calorie values was only a paid option (i had the free trial). Thats a bit ridiculous considering how inaccurate the calorie estimations are. Bummer because i really liked the app and the little raccoon but the one thing I can't accurately track my calories w/o paying now. Switching to a different app. I would definitely go back if this was changed.
Really Love it So Far +1 feature idea/wish

hi, I really like your app so far and like many others it helps me to remember to eat on time and has encouraged me to make healthier choices. One of the biggest things that keeps me eating on time honestly is feeling guilty about Bobo (my racoon) not getting to eat and losing health points. but when it comes to healthy eating, I still feel like I’m lacking some motivation simply from just reading the ratings from each day. it would be cool if there were like a feature where Bobo would get “sick” i.e. also lose health points from me not eating healthily, I think that this option should be able to be toggled on and off that way people who are hoping to use the app to eat healthily can incentivize their eating choices more, while people who simply just want to get themselves at the very least eating again they can leave it toggled off for a more relaxed feel. or maybe just have an option as some other reviews suggested to be able to buy clothes, but the coins could be earned from consistent healthy eating (high scores) rather than mini games which i feel might distract from the purpose of the app and rather serve as a loophole to getting things (people might sit and play the games for bobo’s accessories rather than putting effort into improving their eating habits, people being me lol and probably other busy college students like me where a game is lower effort than cooking a healthy meal)

We’re thrilled to hear that BitePal is helping you remember to eat on time and make healthier choices. 🦝💚We love your ideas about adding a feature where Bobo gets “sick” for unhealthy eating and the option to earn coins for accessories through healthy eating. Room for improvement but overall helpful

The biggest thing that has helped me where other apps and programs have failed, is the inclusion of a full, dynamic meal plan complete with ingredients lists and instructions. This has enabled me to cook almost every meal for the last few weeks rather than hemming and hawing between shopping for what I like and meticulously having to calculate every meal’s nutritional value. So far my quality of life has improved from that alone, and showing fat, carbs, and protein alongside calories without having to do extra work helps me understand my diet much better. It isn’t perfect. Sometimes I take a picture of nutrition facts on products and the app will add thousands of calories to my daily intake despite the item only being around a hundred or so. I also wish it allowed for the saving of your own meals by combining nutrition from multiple pictures. If there’s a single smoothie or sandwich I make several times a week, it would be so much easier to save all the info about that meal/snack/drink and just log that one item anytime I have it. Instead you either have to rebuild it with new pictures and entries, or you have to go back to the last day you had it and individually copy each ingredient over to today.Sticking with this, because as someone who’s struggled with weight my whole life this is the first thing I’ve been able to (mostly) effortlessly stick to.

Not how I want to lose weight

To start, let me say I enjoyed the concept. Other calorie tracking apps have tedious manual entry so it was nice to just point and click to track… until I double-checked the results. Even manual entry in this app is inaccurate. I submitted a description of a food item from a nationwide chain which openly advertises nutritional facts and it undercut the calories every single time. Furthermore, backlogging does not exist in this app. Whatever you log, the app assumes you are eating it in that moment. While this encouraged me to promptly log things, I felt bad pulling out my phone and doing all of that when I eat with my family or friends, so the option would be nice. It also doesn’t account for increased physical activity, so if say I’m lightly active for the most part, I will continue eating as if I’m lightly active even when I have a very active day. I got lightheaded on day 2 and was starving on day 3 despite eating things that should have kept me full and satiated according to the calorie count. I will say this for this app: With a few more tweaks, I think it would be great for people with eating disorders. Sincerely. I ate better because I cared more about taking care of a dang raccoon than of taking care of myself and I think that separation and treating oneself as someone that deserves to be cared for is something so many could benefit from. In that sense it is brilliant. The technology is just not year precise enough for me.
Well… this is a BIG one.
You can now SEARCH PRODUCTS in our food database, choose verified products, or try the new VOICE LOGGING. Prefer AI? Photo scanning and prompts are still here. You can also MULTI-LOG different inputs into one meal. Plus, meal editing now gives you more control and more context.
Not gonna lie — this is a huge change, and we’re still polishing it. This feels like a new era for BitePal, and we’re excited to build it!
