To be honest, it’s actually good! I would like to put it out there that the loading screen is amazing, the trailer was sick and I really liked it. It was so action packed, however, do not be fooled as the entire vibe of the game changes once you play it. It doesn’t necessarily give the same eerie vibes of Madoka Magica, it gives more of a “slice of life” and “adventure” tale, similar to the Elaina the Wandering Witch or Maquia but without Maquia’s child. The story telling felt a bit rushed, it was 90% tutorial, 10% actual storytelling, but this was only about 30 minutes into the game. It gets better, I guess? Maybe? But it gets less progressive between here and there. My biggest issue has to be the animations though. I get that it IS hard to make smooth 3D animations, but I think they’re just a “little” choppy. Since the team isn’t too experienced within 3D animations, however, then I’d say that it’s pretty well done. Would’ve preferred if they had better animators, or at least had more experience to smoothen out everything. The VFX that comes along with the animation too… that’s just all over the place. There are some character ultimates that are solid; the characters have smooth-ish animations and the VFX is timed perfectly well. However, within the batch come some that are very… hard to watch. Yachiyo is a prime example of this “hard to watch” batch. The beginning gives a lot of promise, but then the follow-up upwards becomes choppy and messy, and following the entire ult… it ends with a mess. The VFX are everywhere, the final explosion is timed too early or misplaced, and the VFX look like preset blender “wind explosion” effects. Would’ve given it 5* if not for the batch though. Hoping this game sooner or later evolves out of the 2016-ish quality and grows though. Looking forward to what’s to come.
