Updated to reflect responsive developer and frequent bug updates. I love Super Alarm. It is aggressive, reliable, and highly customizable. It was definitely worth the sale price and I recommend it. However, it has some bugs (at least on iPadOS 17) that can make it incredibly frustrating: Example one: Say my iPad is off overnight. If I leave the house without completing my configured “missions,” turning on the device will make fog horn noises until I can scan a toothbrush, even if the alarm was set for 11 hours ago and I am now in the office. Offering a max duration for alarm sounds would fix this. (Update: This is still kind of an issue but I am used to it.) Example two: I tried the mission where I type a phrase. It worked until I finished the phrase. There was no submit button and “return” simply minimized the keyboard, I watched as the timer expired began blaring in my face and I was forced to reinstall the app to get it to shut up. A dedicated submit button in the UI may resolve a keyboard difference between iPad and iPhone keyboard. (Update: The issue is a trailing space automatically added after punctuation and has nothing to do with the app.) All in all, it’s a great app that I use every day. Thanks!

Writing this review absolutely livid at 8:58am, about 5 minutes after my alarm that I set using this app woke me up for. The alarm was set for 7:45 with no snoozes. I’m about to miss my class that starts in a minute because this app decided to mess up on me for ZERO reason at all.But besides functioning terribly, even the things it does right are absolutely stupid. Like locking the missions behind either paywalls or keeping a waking up streak (??? You only learn you unlock missions this way after you unlock them, an absolutely obtuse system.) Like yeah but typing a sentence or doing some math problems is not going to wake me up. And speaking of the math problems, if you don’t solve them in under a minute, it annoyingly starts ringing again. Meaning if you choose the hard math options it’s just near impossible without a calculator. And if I’m using a calculator why bother at all. You’re not even waking up by engaging your brain with some mental math, you’re just punching digits in. I’m also pretty sure you can’t upload your own wake up sounds so you just have to pray you like one of the preloaded ones. I’ve been using this corny “alarm” theme to wake me up and I hate it.I got this app because I have a tendency to oversnooze my alarm, but when I’m waking up an hour late because of something completely out of my hands, it’s EXTREMELY difficult to justify using the app at all.

I’ve tried a bunch of alarm apps over the years and most of them struggle background reliability and/or completely tank your battery. SuperAlarm has completely resolved that for me. It works seamlessly, it never fails to ring in the morning, and the missions always get me out of bed without fail. Speaking of the missions, they’ve all been implemented well and work flawlessly. In addition to the app quality, I was super impressed with the apps customer support. I reached out to the developer support through the app with a question about my account and got an answer back immediately with a solution immediately! I think we all know how rare it is to receive a prompt and meaningful response from customer support and this might hold the record for the easiest to work with! If you’re a heavy sleeper looking for an app you can actually trust you can’t go wrong with SuperAlarm.

Updated to 5 stars because the dev's very responsive!! This is the best alarm app I’ve tried overall with some unique features and well designed interface. The voice briefing of the time and weather with each alarm is something I’ve never seen and I like it a lot. I’ve been more consistent waking up because I can disable snooze and have the wake up check keep me from just shutting it off. The problem is battery drain when using the widget that shows the next alarm. It absolutely eats through the battery.EDIT: I spoke to the developer and it seems like the app in general is a battery drain. However, they explained the app can be closed and still ring just fine if it's allowed in sleep focus or do not disturb. I have no issue with battery drain with the widget or app when it's closed. I hope they can improve the battery usage but at least there is a workaround!
