Bring your own PDF or EPUB. Choose the depth, read a clear condensed version, save the best ideas, and review them until they stick.
The books keep piling up. Sift helps you actually finish them.
Import a PDF or EPUB you own, choose how deeply you want to read, and start a clear condensed edition in seconds. Sift keeps the throughline of the source—not just a list of disconnected takeaways.
ANY BOOK—NOT A FIXED CATALOG
Bring the books already waiting in your files: nonfiction, fiction, textbooks, research, and long documents. Sift extracts text on your device, including scanned PDF pages with on-device OCR.
CHOOSE YOUR DEPTH
Move between six reading depths whenever you want:
• Gist — the core argument or arc
• Quick — the essentials, fast
• Balanced — the book, comfortably shorter
• Deep — most of the detail, trimmed
• Light — almost all of it, tightened
• Original — every word as written
Sift shows an estimated reading time before you begin and remembers your place when you come back.
KEEP THE IDEAS WORTH REMEMBERING
While you read with Sift Pro, the app gathers striking, source-grounded ideas and organizes them on your Idea Shelf. Favorite the sparks that matter, then use quick spaced-repetition reviews to remember them. Optional reminders and streaks help turn reading into lasting knowledge.
READ YOUR WAY
• Page-by-page or continuous scrolling
• Paper, sepia, and dark reading themes
• Adjustable type size, width, spacing, and font
• Condensed reads in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Hindi, Arabic, or Chinese
• A focused reader built for iPhone and iPad
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account or login is required. Your imported files, reading progress, summaries, and saved ideas stay on your device. AI features securely send only the text needed for processing; on-device OCR images never leave your device. Sift does not sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps.
FREE AND PRO
Read the original text of your imports for free and try Gist or Quick condensation each day. Sift Pro unlocks every reading depth, unlimited AI condensation, and automatic idea gathering.
Bring the book you meant to finish. Sift what matters—and keep it.

This app lets you summarise large text files very easily, ideal for situations when I don’y have much time on my watch to go through full clients requirements.
“Add Book” *crash*
kmmnyc
So pumped I signed up and paid for subscription without even trying it. Been waiting for exactly this app. Got all my ebooks together and converted to pdf in preparation. Finally ready to roll: “add 10 books.” App immediately crashes. “Add 5 books?” Crash. Instantly. “1 book?” Crash. “Please?” Crash. “Can someone help? How do I fix this?” —what I couldn’t ask anywhere because there’s no customer service. Crash. Didn’t even know this was possible but had to go through apple support to get a refund. The app for speeding through and comprehending all your books was incapable of beginning the upload process of a single book once in 2 weeks and charged 7 bucks for the pleasure — it’s absolutely criminal that this thing get 1 single star by force
