Speech balloons are now recognized as a whole, a crash when opening files has been fixed, and the start screen and settings have been reorganized. ■ Better comic translation • Speech balloons are recognized as a whole. Previously the text was split into fragments and translated piece by piece, breaking sentences apart and painting over each fragment separately, which left balloons looking messy. Text within one balloon is now gathered and translated together. • Vertical Japanese and Chinese text is handled properly. Columns set side by side are read as one block. • Balloon background and text colors are analyzed separately. Text no longer disappears into dark balloons. • Fixed translations that left some balloons empty. Results now appear only after every balloon is filled. • Fixed translations that stopped silently on failure. • Improved text recognition for images saved in certain formats. • Reduced the delay between finishing a translation and seeing the new image. ■ ChatGPT translator added • Alongside Google Translate and Papago, you can now translate with ChatGPT. • Source and target languages can be set separately for each translator in Settings. ■ Start screen and recent items • A start screen greets you on launch, with recently opened folders and files ready to reopen. • You can drop files and folders straight onto the start screen. ■ Opening and dragging files • Fixed a crash when opening images with "Open With" in the Finder or dragging them onto the app. • Fixed folders of images that could be dragged in but never loaded. • You can now drag in two or more folders. They load in name order: every image from the first folder, then the next folder's images. • Removed an unrelated file access prompt that appeared when dragging a folder. ■ Settings reorganized • Settings are now split into Basic and Convenience. • The slideshow interval moved from the toolbar into Settings, leaving a cleaner window. • A Restore Purchase button was added, so a previous purchase can be recovered after changing devices or reinstalling. • The API key activation button is easier to spot. ■ About the daily translation allowance • You can translate up to 70 images per day for free. The remaining count is shown in the window title. • Enter your own API key in Settings and that translator becomes unlimited. This applies per translator — if you enter only a Google key, Google Translate is unlimited while the others still use the allowance. • The allowance applies to translation services only, not to text recognition (OCR). ■ Translation progress and stop • The progress indicator appears the moment you press Translate, and disappears once the translated image is on screen. • A stop button was added. If a translation takes a long time or appears stuck, one click clears it so you can try again right away. ■ Eight languages • Alongside Korean, English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese, the app now supports German, Spanish, French and Italian. ■ Other improvements • Refined the app icon. • Returning to actual size or fit-to-window after zooming now works reliably. • Fixed the original image coming back when clicking outside a translated image.
