reeDminder: Reed Log
Clarinet, Sax, Oboe, Bassoon
Free
Your reed is going off and the average will not show it. reeDminder tracks the last three sessions separately, so a reed that is fading tells you early.
A reed goes off long before you notice. reeDminder shows you when.
For clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon players who are tired of guessing.
Rate a reed out of ten after a session. Once it has three ratings, reeDminder shows a second number beside its average — the mean of its last three. A reed with twenty good sessions behind it has a lifetime average that barely moves when it starts to go, but the trailing three drops straight away. That gap is the thing a notebook cannot show you.
WHAT IT DOES
▷ Rotations. A rotation set is the reeds you are actively playing. Start a session and reeDminder suggests the next reed in the set, picking up from the one you played last. Play whatever you like — it records the reed you actually played, not the one it offered.
▷ Sessions. One tap starts the timer, another ends it. Add a note while you play and rate the reed when you stop.
▷ Recordings. Capture how a reed actually sounded. A rating tells you what you thought of it; a recording tells you what it was. A month later those are not always the same thing.
▷ Break-in cycles. Define your own steps, and reeDminder tracks which one a replacement reed is on.
▷ Instruments and mouthpieces. Keep them alongside your reeds, and record which reed was played on what.
▷ Full history. Every session, note, rating and recording, for every reed you have owned — including the ones you have retired.
OFFLINE BY DESIGN
Everything lives in a database on your device. reeDminder makes no network requests at all: no account, no sign-up, nothing to sync, and no way for your playing history to end up anywhere you did not put it. Back it up by exporting a single file and keeping it wherever you keep your files.
Free. Every feature, from the moment you install. No ads, no account, no tracking.
iPad has its own layout rather than a stretched phone screen.
Replaces the notebook, the spreadsheet, the post-it on the case.
You can edit a finished session now, and reeDminder no longer needs an account.
Everything below is new since the last store release.
▷ Edit a finished session. Change its start and end times, swap in a different reed from the rotation if you logged the wrong one, or fix the rating. Notes save as you type.
▷ Reuse a note you have written before instead of typing it again.
▷ Delete a session that should never have been recorded.
▷ No account, and no sign-in. Every feature is available the moment you install, and reeDminder never asks who you are.
▷ Your data stays on your device. The app makes no network requests at all.
▷ Backup is a file you keep. Settings > Backup > Export writes everything — sessions, ratings, notes and recordings — into one file you can store in Files, a cloud drive, or anywhere else.
▷ Rebuilt on current iOS foundations.
IF YOU HAD AN ACCOUNT
The in-app community and cloud backup have been retired. Your history on this device is untouched, but the copy that lived in the cloud is no longer reachable from the app. Open Settings > Backup > Export and keep the file somewhere safe. It is the only thing this release asks of you.
