My White Oak

Education

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

White oak is a foundational species in the central hardwoods, supporting forest resilience, wildlife habitat, and regional economies, but its regeneration is increasingly challenged by competition from shade-tolerant species, past management decisions, and other environmental conditions. The My White Oak Mobile App is designed to help landowners assess their woodlands for white oak potential and better understand the condition and opportunities within their forests. Through a Woodland Assessment report, the app provides site-specific information, management practices that support white oak, and guidance on how a forester can assist with planning and implementation. Developed through a partnership between the University of Kentucky, the White Oak Initiative, and the Kentucky Division of Forestry, the My White Oak App supports informed, long-term management for white oak sustainability.
