A goose lives on your Mac now.
It waddles across your screen, drags memes in from the edges, chases
your cursor, honks at your Dock, and curls up for a nap on your
wallpaper. You can whack it. It holds a grudge.
WHAT IT GETS UP TO
• Wanders your desktop, leaving muddy footprints behind it
• Drags memes in from the edge of the screen — the ones it came
with, or your own images and your own lines of text
• Chases your pointer, honking, and every so often sets it on fire

• Screen memes — the goose grabs a square of your actual desktop and
drags that around instead. Needs Screen Recording permission,
which you grant yourself, and it excludes itself from the grab.
• Pointer shoving — it knocks your cursor aside when it pecks at it.

No accounts. No tracking. No analytics. No network access at all —
Rebel Goose ships without the network entitlement, so macOS itself
prevents it from sending anything anywhere. Your memes and your
screen never leave your Mac.

The goose has learned some new tricks - and it now notices when you
poke it.
NEW
• Whack the goose. Click it and it yelps and bolts. Hit the same
goose three times in ten seconds and it stops running away and
comes for your pointer instead. Clicks anywhere else on your
desktop pass straight through as before.
• Naps. The goose settles down, tucks its head in and shuts its
eyes, with cartoon z's drifting up off it. Come near and it
wakes with a honk - or whack it while it sleeps.
• Muddy footprints that fade behind it as it walks.
• Edge peeking. It wanders off the side of the screen, waits, then
leans back in to see whether you noticed.
• Window patrol. It climbs onto the top edge of one of your windows
and struts along it.
• Dock raids. It marches over to the Dock and honks at it.
• Flocking. With more than one goose on screen they walk over to
each other for a honking match.
• Text memes can now type themselves out one letter at a time.
• Launch at login, and an option to open Settings when the app
starts.
NEW ADVANCED TAB
Two behaviours that reach outside the app, both off by default and
both explained before you turn them on:
• Screen memes — the goose drags a random square of your actual
desktop around instead of an image you picked. Needs Screen
Recording permission, which you grant from this tab.
• Pointer shoving — the goose knocks your cursor aside when it
pecks at it, with an adjustable strength.
IMPROVED
• Settings rebuilt into General, Modes, Memes and Advanced, with
every switch explained and a Reset All Settings button.
• Attack mode now steers as you move. The goose used to lock on to
wherever your pointer was when it started running, so moving away
meant it charged at empty space.
• Much lighter on memory and CPU. Every goose used to get its own
full-screen window; they now share one, and a sleeping goose
costs about a tenth of an awake one.
• Faster launch — the menu bar icon appears immediately instead of
after a fixed delay.
• Meme thumbnails load in the background and are cached, so the
Memes tab opens instantly.
• You can now add several meme images at once.
• Effects appear on the right display on multi-monitor setups.
FIXED
• Your own meme images never appeared. They were being saved but
not loaded back. Existing images are picked up automatically.
• Turning geese off left them animating invisibly in the background,
and switching them on and off repeatedly leaked memory.
• Crash when you had deleted all of your text memes.
• Crash when the goose count had been left at zero.
• Switches in Modes did nothing to the settings below them until
the window was reopened.
• Deleting a meme could remove the wrong one.
• Spawning a goose stole focus from whatever app you were using.
• With several geese, they all ran at whichever speed was set last
instead of their own.
• "Show default images" showed the opposite of what it was doing.
