Welcome to version 8.1.4 of Drone Map & UAV Forecast! This version brings back a familiar way to view the app: colored cards! Following feedback on the recent UI changes, it was clear that some of you missed the extra splash of color. You can now head to Settings and bring back a more colorful look whenever you like. Profiles now load faster, and I’ve added some much-needed loading indicators so it’s clearer when content is still on its way. On top of that, I’ve squashed a few other minor bugs.

Flying under controlled airspace Plenty of good flying spots sit under a CTA or TMA that only begins at 1,500 ft or higher. A drone kept under 400 ft flies beneath that airspace, not inside it — and Drone Map now says so. • Zones that start above drone height are drawn paler, with a dashed outline, so one glance shows which airspace actually reaches the ground. • The flight check answers "Clear beneath controlled airspace" instead of a caution — and still checks the CTR, ATZ or airport zone underneath on its own. • Siri, the Home Screen widget and share cards grade a spot on the zones you can reach, nothing else. • Tap a dashed zone to see where it starts and what that means for you. The map key has a new row explaining the dashed outline. Little touches • Spot and flight-log pages now fade softly under the navigation bar as you scroll. Had a favorite spot marked "Fly with caution" under a CTA? Check it again — the answer may have changed. Spotted something off? Settings → Feedback.

A brand-new Drone Map We've redesigned the whole app. It's lighter, cleaner and easier to read: white cards, crisper type, and colour saved for the things that carry meaning — map layers and your flight status. Every screen has been redrawn, from Home and the Map to Weather, Feed, Profile and your Flight Log. Home, reorganised • Spots near you, Popular spots and Saved spots each get their own row. • Search any place straight from the Airspace & Spots card or the Weather card. • Every flight tool in one row: airspace, airports, FAA height limits, obstacles, national parks, weather, wind overlay, live air traffic, nearest airport, checklist and offline maps. • A taller map, with your profile and notifications up in the navigation bar. Little touches • Confetti when you add a spot — and a one-tap offer to share it as a social card. • Your profile shows a friendly empty state until your first spot or flight is logged. Fixes • Tapping a live aircraft could occasionally turn the map black. Fixed. Love the new look? A quick rating goes a long way. Spotted something off? Settings → Feedback.

Built out for flying in the US — and for flying where there's no signal. • FAA FACILITY MAP CEILINGS — Controlled airspace now fills in with the maximum altitude the FAA publishes for every grid square: red where nothing is granted automatically, green where the full 400 ft is. Tap a square for the controlling airport and whether it accepts LAANC requests. Recreational and Part 107 flyers alike can see their ceiling before they drive. • OFFLINE MAPS — Drag a box around anywhere you fly and download it. Airspace, airports, parks, ground hazards and altitude limits are kept on your phone, so the map and "Can I fly here?" keep working with no bars at all. Manage your saved areas from Settings or your profile. • EXPORT YOUR LOGBOOK — Save your flight log as CSV, or your flown routes as GPX, for currency records you keep yourself. • HOURS PER DRONE — Track cumulative hours for each airframe you fly, with an optional service reminder for each. • BEST WINDOW NEAR YOU — One reminder a week, a few hours before the best stretch of flying weather in your area. Also fixed: deleting your account now removes it properly, and the map tells you when you're offline instead of loading forever.

The feed has a fresh look. Spots and flights now lead with their name and the pilot who shared them, with the photo or map framed neatly below and a single clear button to open the full details. Flights logged without a drawn flight path now show a map of the spot they were flown at, so every card gives you a sense of place at a glance. We've also made the feed go further back — it keeps loading as you scroll, so you can browse days of recent flights instead of just the newest few. Map thumbnails load faster and more reliably, and there's a round of polish across the Spot of the Day and trending cards.

Can I fly here? Now answered in one tap. NEW: THE FLIGHT CHECK Tap anywhere on the map and get a straight answer. The check reads airspace, airfields, ground hazards, weather, wind and live air traffic around that point, then gives you a single clear verdict — along with the reasons behind it, so you know exactly what to watch for before you take off. WIND YOU CAN READ AT A GLANCE The map's wind layer has been redrawn: hundreds of fine streaks flow the way the air actually moves, so one look gives you direction and strength together. Wind now reads the same way everywhere — on the map, in the flight check and on the forecast. ALSO IN THIS VERSION A round of smaller fixes and refinements across the map, weather and spot details to keep everything fast and steady.

This one's all about the airspace map. • Sharper airport zones. Restrictions around airfields now follow Flight Restriction Zone dimensions — the traffic zone around the airfield, plus a protected strip off each runway end. • Know what every zone means. The map key and zone details explain each kind of airspace in plain English, and whether you need permission before you fly. • Show only what you need. Switch individual airspace and airport types on and off to clear the map. • Controlled and restricted airspace finally read apart at a glance — orange for "check first", red for "don't fly". • Fixed: some controlled airspace showed flight levels as metres. Thanks to the pilot who reported it.

Check the airspace around you without opening the app. AIRSPACE WIDGETS Add the new Airspace Map widget to your Home Screen — small, medium or large — and see the restricted zones around you at a glance. Tap it to jump straight to that spot on the map. It follows your current location, or you can pin it anywhere you like. ASK SIRI Say "Check flight restrictions in Drone Map" for a spoken answer and a live chart of the zones in the Dynamic Island. It works on the Lock Screen too.
