I really adore this game its really cute and fun but there are *so many* rewards that are contingent on watching ads which is super frustrating because for some reason there has never been an ad available ever so theres a ton of rewards I’m missing out on. It’s not so bad with things like gold since i can get a lot pretty easily and gems to a lesser extent since i can get them through the Magic Tree, however, with things like the Magic Pass I literally cannot access like half of the rewards I earned because i am unable to watch ads and a bunch of rewards after that I cannot access because I have to unlock the previous items first. This includes higher level cauldrons and potions. Since some of the cauldrons cost 100 gems or more and potions are pretty hard to come by it gets super frustrating because that means its a lot more difficult to get the higher level professors and upgrade my spell power which is necessary for a whole host of other things. Right now I can’t get any of the advanced professors let alone upgrade them because I can’t watch ads, making watching ads essential to the game unless I paid money. Would it be possible to maybe implement something where if an ad isn’t available for a certain amount of time we could automatically receive the award? Update: In the twoish days since I wrote this review I’m now suddenly able to watch ads and get my rewards which is great. I don’t know what happened but I’m glad to be able to access so many items without paying money.Update 2: a few hours after the first update and I can’t watch ads anymore, well, it was nice while it lasted

Really cute and fun game. I love that there are so many different components to the game. Building, battles, events, etc. However, I’m not loving that they haven’t added levels or updated it in a long time. There’s also a repetitive bug in the game that they don’t seem concerned with fixing (red exclamation point over the shop/resources button in lower left despite having nothing to collect or buy). Several glitchy or annoying things (like the ‘skip’ button for opening card packs doesn’t skip the annoying part of the animation, collecting stars). And many of the events are impossible without spending quite a bit of money (though most of the game is possible with free play—it just takes FOREVER, which is fine). At least one event/component of the game (Astronomy Tower and ‘Special Students’) seems to be impossible even with spending quite a lot of money. Like I’ve been playing for months and months and ashamedly spent far too much on this game and still have never managed to complete an Astronomy Tower Collection and get a Special Student. It’s frustrating to spend so much on a game that they may never update/level up again again.

I’ve bought the no ads benefits and just now, the premium pass. I have 2 map locations unlocked, and the pass is an option at every school location as you increase game level. However, for $10 on a mobile game I honestly expected that the premium pass would apply to EVERY map location, not just one. I’m honestly disappointed because I had been debating making another purchase for some time and finally thought that one would be best for what I wanted, only to find that at that steep price, I don’t even get to use it as I level up at each school. The game is fun, cute, and keeps me invested. But considering how much they charge for additional benefits, they’re still quite restrictive on the resources they give you even when you’ve given them the same amount of money that could’ve been spent on a larger PC or console game. I truly hope this is adjusted at some point, especially considering that it didn’t disclose anywhere that the pass I purchased would only work once. It’s a good, fun little game and a fun format. Please, if the devs can take anything from this review, make the in-app purchases worth it in resources received. And anyone wanting to play the game, until this is resolved, I’d honestly not spend money unless you have more than enough pocket change to do so. It’s just not worth it as is.
