Pencilera (Pencil + Camera) A free, open source app. Built on iPad, for iPad! Pencilera is an innovate solution to a problem we all have when taking group photos away from your iPad: having to set timers again and again to get the perfect shot. Taking advantage of the sensors on the Apple Pencil 2 and Apple Pencil Pro, Pencilera lets you capture the right moment simply by double tapping on your Apple Pencil's stem or by squeezing it. It effectively turns your Apple Pencil into a Camera Remote. Pencilera was also built entirely on iPad, using Swift Playgrounds!

Seems to be working great now on my M4. Very useful. Thanks for the update. Have updated my rating accordingly. ————(Prior Review)In theory this seems great and the pencil portion DOES seem to be working as either double tapping or squeezing seems to take a photo. But for some reason the app isn't adding any images to my photo gallery despite me verifying I’ve given it the appropriate permissions. I've flipped the toggle switches in settings back and forth (on/off/on), uninstalled and reinstalled, etc, but nothing seems to work. If it's any help, I’m running this on a iPad Pro M4 11 inch.

Hi, I appreciate you giving Pencilera a try and bringing this issue to my attention; I just released Version 2.0 which fixes this issue, and brings in a lot of other quality of life improvements that I’m sure will go a long way in terms of enhancing your experience with Pencilera. I’ve also ensured that adequate testing has been done to avoid any unexpected issues. M4 iPad Pro models should work flawlessly now, and I request you to give the app another shot and please reconsider your review; thank you!

V2 fixes it all

With the release of V2, Pencilera now properly saves photos to the camera roll and the other updates (like changing actions of the pencil) work well. V1 had bugs, but V2 turns out to be a very helpful app.

Just downloaded v2. Using M4 iPad Pro. Squeezing seems to work sometimes. Double tap does nothing. Is there a particular way to double tap? Settings were adjusted to those parameters.

This update brings a small fix related to the padding around the status bar at the top of your screen. Happy capturing!
