Browse in bed without lighting up the room: the page, toolbars and video go far below the iPhone's minimum brightness. No app can dim other apps; this dims the browser.
The original app for those of us who browse at night, since 2012.
*Top 5 Best Web Browsers for iPhone* /iMore.com
Night Web Browser by Alex is the only web browser that dims your whole screen — the web page, the toolbars and fullscreen video on YouTube, Instagram and everywhere else — far below what the iPhone's own brightness slider will let you go.
PLEASE NOTE: only what is inside the browser can be dimmed. iOS does not let any app dim the rest of the system.
Do you think your iPhone's or iPad's screen is too bright when you look at it in the dark?
Night Web Browser lets you browse in bed without disturbing the one next to you and without straining your eyes. One tap on the sun button brings up darkness and warmth, and the whole screen follows.
FEATURES
- Darkness boost, far below the system minimum
- Warmer colour temperature for less blue light
- Dims fullscreen video and the toolbars — and the clock too, if you switch that on
- Fades in and out gently, never a jolt
- Turns on automatically between times you choose, or from sunset to sunrise where you are
- Set it from Shortcuts, Siri, or by holding the app — or let it come on with the Sleep Focus
THE BROWSER AROUND IT
- Can be your default browser app, with passkeys and saved passwords as in Safari
- Flip through your open tabs, or lay them out in a row or a grid — and in those two, drag them into any order
- Video, beside your tabs: each of your video sites in its own tab that stays on that site and keeps its own sign-in, apart from the rest of your browsing
- Any of them can have its own icon on the Home Screen
- Bookmarks in folders, and import them from Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge
- Page zoom, find on page, and request the desktop website
- Download files, and open or share them from the app
- Searchable history — or switch off saving it altogether
- Private tabs, which leave nothing behind
- On iOS 27, every site you visit is asked not to sell or share your personal data
- Search suggestions as you type — Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Baidu or Ecosia
- Swipe back and forward like in Safari
- Available in 16 languages
- No account, no analytics, no tracking
FREE, WITH ONE OPTIONAL UNLOCK
The night filter and everything above are free.
Night Web Browser Pro is one purchase, once — not a subscription. It adds a Reading List that downloads whole articles — even everything a front page links to — to read offline, plus Listen to Page (the article read aloud, with a sleep timer), Reader (just the article), Dark Mode for Web Pages, Translate Page, Block Ads and Trackers, Block Cookie Notices, Hide Distracting Items and Lock Private Tabs. Pro also keeps the brightness down after you leave the browser, until you change it in Control Center.
Download the evening's reading before a flight — or before you turn off the lights.
If you bought this app before it became free, Pro is already yours. You will never be asked to pay again.
This app works wonderfully as a browser that can dim darker than the iPhone's brightness settings can manage. Is there any way that another app could be made that can apply this dimming enhancement to the whole iOS? This way people could text, play games, browse through photos, or do anything, but with the screen brightness dim enough to be comfortable when the rest of the room is pitch black. (This would be a great added feature in the next iOS update: a Night Mode setting which would allow extra-low dimming settings.)Excellent work on this nighttime browser! Thank you for relieving the strain on my eyes!
Perfect for married people
NotUrAverageRobot
This app is perfect if you're married and you want to surf the web while someone is sleeping next to you. It does exactly what it says it is supposed to do. The tabs are a little bit glitchy when switching back and forth, but I do like the warm red mode that keeps the screen dark but also makes it easier to read IMO. Could use some more settings in the browser too but I'm glad it supports horizontal keyboard. Thanks!
Great app but can add some basic features
Kalmiki
This is a great app and it does dim your browser screen to a comfortable level in a dark room. But I really wished for this new update, the developer would have added some basic essential features that Safari has e.g. 1) automatic scrolling back to the top of the page by tapping the top of the screen, 2) when tapping the "Back" button, it will go back to the same spot of the previous page. It is not very efficient for the users to keep manually scrolling up and down numerous times just to get to the same spot or the top. PLEASE add these features with your next update (hopefully soon). I love this app and use it every day and night. Thanks!
This does work
ci12217
I bought this, and was initially disappointed. Went back and read the reviews, and yes, this does work almost too well IF YOU ARE BROWSING the web through the app. You have to use the second to last tab to the right on the bottom of the app I browse. I do wish this was applied to everything on my phone, but it doesn't. Would I buy it again? No. But, it DOES do what it says it would do perfectly.
Clear the Downloads list in one tap, or let it empty itself a day later. The files stay in the Files app.
Plus some polish here and there, and a round of bug fixes.
