Track Your Weighted Workouts with Precision
RuckIt delivers accurate calorie tracking and performance metrics for walking and hiking with weight—whether you’re wearing a weighted vest, carrying a rucking backpack, or training with added load.
Why RuckIt for Weighted Vest and Ruck Training?
Generic fitness apps don’t understand that carrying 10–30 lbs fundamentally changes your workout. They see a higher heart rate at a slower pace and misinterpret it as declining fitness—often lowering your Apple Watch VO₂ max score—even though you’re getting stronger.
RuckIt’s specialized algorithms account for your load—vest, backpack, or gear—to give you the accurate metrics you deserve:
* Precise calorie calculations using your body weight, added load, age, biological sex, resting metabolic rate, pace, and distance
* Load-aware performance tracking that recognizes strength gains
* Real-time metrics on your Apple Watch without your phone
* GPS mapping with elevation, pace, and heart rate data
* Progress analytics to track improvements over time
Perfect for:
* Weighted vest workouts and walking
* Rucking and backpacking training
* Functional fitness and strength building
* Bone health and metabolic conditioning
* Anyone training with added weight
Apple Watch Integration
Leave your phone behind. RuckIt displays real-time metrics on your Apple Watch and syncs seamlessly with Apple Health, ensuring your weighted workouts count toward your fitness rings with accurate data.
Science-Based Tracking
Our algorithms are built on validated research for load-bearing exercise and account for how added weight scales relative to your body. Whether you’re wearing a 10 lb vest for bone health or carrying 40 lbs for tactical training, RuckIt calculates true energy expenditure and performance—not generic estimates.
From First Steps to Advanced Training
New to weighted exercise? Start with our beginner-friendly interface. Training for something specific? Set custom goals for distance, time, or pace. RuckIt grows with you.

Too often, I record a rock on my watch and after the workout I look and it doesn’t sync with my phone. I don’t see an easy way to fix this or to force it to sink so that I can keep tracking my workout. This is very frustrating for a paid app.
Didn’t work
Doc Pettit
Well I did my “first ruck” using the app. It was doing great on my watch and phone and was tracking everything perfectly. I think the distance was wrong but I didn’t double check it. Doesn’t matter anyway because when I completed my ruck I hit “ stop ruck” or whatever it said on my phone and it didn’t do anything but stop the clock. So then I clicked end and save on my watch and it recorded my ruck as lasting 0 seconds. Then I got a reminder alert on my phone 5 minutes after my ruck that it was time to lace up my boots and ruck. Not a very functional app.
Developer Response
Hi Doc Pettit — We're really sorry you had this experience. Definitely not what RuckIt is built to do. We're a small team committed to making this the best app we can, especially on core things like this. These are all bugs we take seriously. We've investigated all 3 and have fixes going out in the next version. Thanks for taking the time to submit the review to let us know. Feel free to reach out at support@ruckit.app and we'd be happy to send you a code for a free month on us. — Matt and The RuckIt Team
Not for me !
WhiteMountainsThunder
They should state that Ruckit is only good in areas like the cities of the suburbs with scads of WI-FI access. I click to start the rock and choose the option. I want (in this case duration) and click on the black "start ruck" button. The button turns gray; I put the phone in my pocket and head out. I get back to my starting point to find that the "start ruck" button is once again black and the program has not recorded a single step. This has happened more than once. I am not pleased!
Forced subscription
dloganbill
It forces you to sign up for a paid subscription (with a free trial period). Should be free without the forced payment subscription first. Then force to pay later to keep going. Unfortunately, I couldn’t even use the app because I don’t own an Apple Watch. It wouldn’t let me ruck with just the phone. Unsubscribed, deleted, and didn’t even get to try it out.
Developer Response
Thanks for the feedback! You’re absolutely right — the early version required an Apple Watch and a trial sign-up, which wasn’t ideal. Based on your and others feedback, we’ve since fixed that: you can now ruck using just your phone, and you can explore key features before subscribing. We appreciate you helping us make the app better! --- RuckIt app team
