Created by artists for artists, ZBrush for iPad offers many of the same tools and features found in ZBrush's desktop version used by the professionals in film, game, concept art, toys, collectibles, jewelry, automotive, aviation, product design and so much more, including the collection of leading, proprietary digital sculpting brushes created with real-world sculpting techniques in mind.
Begin your creations with our extensive library of base models, or utilize our advanced photogrammetry feature to scan real-world objects and seamlessly integrate them into ZBrush.
Our Pro Projects library allows you to observe how a Seasoned Professional works in ZBrush by accessing and loading the files provided in the Pro Projects library.
Traditional low polygon modeling workflows allow the user to create with ease in low polygons with our ZModeler and Retopo brushes.
The Surface Noise feature allows you to effortlessly add intricate patterns to your model, whether utilizing an image or the NoiseMaker curve. You can easily adjust the size, orientation, and repetition of the pattern through a dynamic and user-friendly interface.
ZBrush for iPad includes:
- Over 200 of ZBrush's leading digital sculpting brushes and the ability to easily load the thousands of custom brushes that have been created by ZBrush users.
- A highly customizable user interface that expands on the desktop version's QuickMenu, making it easy to arrange sculpting tools for a more optimized, personal experience. In addition, users can customize the bottom toolbar to include their favorite brushes, materials, textures and alphas. Customize your Apple Pencil double tap or Pencil Pro squeeze to complete an action.
- Similar high polygon details as ZBrush desktop, depending on iPad device. The latest M4 iPad with at least a one terabyte (TB) hard drive, for example, can reach up to 90+ million polygons per mesh.
- Innovative UI design makes it possible to take advantage of Apple's user-friendly touch capabilities and jump right into sculpting, especially for new users. Gesture controls for common features, such as draw size, focal shift, undos and redos, help streamline workflow.
- Seamless file sharing for ZBrush subscribers who want to move ZTool (ZTL) and ZProject (ZPR) files between iPad and desktop. GoZ can also be used to move files between versions with one click.
- ZRemesher generates a new mesh with an even distribution of polygons, preserving the essential details and flow of the original surface.
- Sculptris Pro adds and reduces triangle tessellation with each brush stroke, making it simple to focus on sculpting without worrying about technical restraints.
- DynaMesh retopologizes while sculpting, so it’s possible to stretch digital clay or add volume while retaining the same basic capacity for detail.
- Array Mesh makes it possible to create duplicate instances of geometry in varying patterns and shapes in real time.
- The Dynamics system enhances sculpts by allowing any surface to be draped over another surface.
- Live Boolean gives users the ability to combine, subtract, and/or use intersections to create unique results.
- PolyPaint makes it easy to paint and sculpt at the same time, making it possible to paint on the surface of a model without first assigning a texture map.
The Positives. This is the best sculpting software on iPad bar none. I’ve tried them all and this is just the best for iPad. The interface is miles above the desktop version. And the detail you can get is pretty good. I am not joking when I say I have actually taken to using this for my sculpts rather tan my desktop because how good the interface is. Maxon please remake the desktop version with what you guys have learned here. Now the negatives. ZBrush is still a buggy mess that loves to crash whenever it feels like. It works but it crashes a lot. Want to do a Boolean, crash. Want to use zRemesher without going down a few subdivision levels, crash. Exporting a turntable crash. And if that isn’t bad enough GoZ is finicky. Large file, won’t send. Random disconnects. Inability to find the desktop/laptop without having to hard reboot the iPad force quitting the app is not good enough I literally have tor start the iPad. I hope we get updates and they fix this. But despite this this is the best software. That being said Apple or Maxon please find a way for us to store and access brushes and textures and project files on an external device. Even 2 TB is not enough when a sculpt can be several GB and You keep multiple versions. I’ve found that if I open the zprj from files and save it saves on the usb drive but the fact I have to go through files to do that is annoying not to mention I can’t do this for brushes and textures and alphas.
So far so good

Running on a 3rd gen M2 iPad Pro and have had very few issues. I think many do not realize that as a 1.0 version, this is rather impressive. Yes, it has a few tools to add later and some refinements, but that will come later. The ability to bring in custom brushes (and more) is wonderful. I have had a few crashes, but nothing major. I would recommend to those having questions that they refer to the introductory videos that Maxon has put out as they explain current features and hint at future developments. I would also like to see Maxon make this a tad more affordable for the average user. Compared with its (very powerful) competitor, it is rather expensive. If Maxon plans to stick with subs for mobile applications, it would be wise to offer something a bit more competitive on the price. At the time of this writing, the sub is $10/mo or $90/yr.
I don’t understand how this is rated so well

I downloaded and paid for the subscription this a while ago to try and get used to the Industry Standard software on a form factor I am used to thanks to Nomad Sculpt. However, it was disappointing at first when it initially released, being clunky and unintuitive for a beginner. Frankly it hasn’t’t gotten any better, in fact I’d say it has gotten worse with the complete lack of any useful brush descriptions. As well as very poor documentation/manual that doesn’t answer any potential questions a user might have, instead just giving the reader an ourobouros of links. I also have run into a problem that makes the software almost unusable, I cant import anything into the scene. I have looked through so many resources and tried every single tip and suggestion. None of them work the import will always wipe the entire scene, irrespective of the method you used to import. I can’t believe a software this clunky is the industry standard. The only reason I will continue using any Maxon projects is because of college. I was originally so excited to use this software, because I love making art on my iPad, however it has been nothing but a pretty major disappointment for me. I honestly would recommend Nomad Sculpt higher than this.
Absolutely great start, but…

Zbrush for iPad has been running very well on my 12.9 inch M2 iPad Pro. The learning curve is very minimal and the UI is a big step in the right direction from using the desktop version but today after a week of sculpting I’m experiencing sudden crashes when trying to save. Thank god for the auto save feature but when it crashes I am unable to reopen the file. I’m not sure what is going on but it makes me afraid to really get into my work with the now constant crashes. I hope this can be resolved soon. ——UPDATE!! I just had to give an update and change my review from 4 to 5 stars! Zbrush for iPad is amazing! The issues I had at launch are non existent and this app just rocks and lately I hardly sculpt at my desk since the initial kinks have been worked out. The devs are definitely on it and if and when Zmodeler comes to iPad, my mobile studio will be complete. Thanks for all the effort put in to make this extraordinary app!
