New: Items from a Photo. Photograph an open box and BOXY suggests the items inside, ready for you to review and add. Requires iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence. The photo is analyzed by Apple's Private Cloud Compute and isn't stored.

We've improved the subscription screen: text now shows in full in every language. Plus, small behind-the-scenes improvements.

If the scanner doesn't have camera access, it now tells you why and takes you to Settings. Plus, behind-the-scenes improvements to better understand when we ask for your rating.

Siri now knows which box you mean. With a box open, Boxy tells the system which one it is. Where Siri with Apple Intelligence is available, that lets you refer to it without reading out the code. Same on the QR code screen, on an item's photo, and in search results. And while we are here, something almost nobody knows: Boxy ships 28 Shortcuts actions, and 9 of them answer by voice with nothing to set up. • "Where did I put my keys?" and it tells you the box • "How many items do I have?" for your inventory summary • "Which boxes are empty?" right before you start packing • "Back up my inventory" without opening the app With all 28 you can build your own automations: create boxes, move items between them, add tags, export your inventory to CSV. Four fixes, and the first one is about money: • The annual plan's saving is now worked out from your country's prices, not from the US ones. In Mexico, for instance, the real saving is larger than what was shown. And when it cannot be worked out, no figure is shown at all. • The Back button on the welcome screen only responded in a small part of what it drew. It now responds across the whole button. • The box code cells spilled past the edges when the window got narrow. They now shrink and fit at any width. • In German, "save" finally uses the verb Apple uses.

Pick which labels to print — and they come out in the order you see. Printing a whole category was all you had. Now open a category, tap "..." then Print, then Select Boxes to Print. Tap a box to pick it, long-press another one further down and choose Select Up to Here to take everything in between, or use Select All. The title counts what you have picked and only those labels print. And a fix that matters just as much: labels now print in the order the list shows. Sort a category by "..." then Sort then Date (Newest First), and the first label off the printer is the box you packed last. Until now the list changed but the labels always came out ordered by box code, whichever order you had chosen — so a sorted stack never matched the screen. While you are picking boxes, they can no longer be dragged by accident, so a long press that slides selects a range instead of moving a box somewhere you did not intend.

Boxy does QR codes now — on your screen, and on the label. Two ways to get a box's QR, and the first one needs no printer at all. On screen: open a box and tap Show QR Code in the "..." menu, or press and hold a box in the list and choose it there. The QR fills the screen, Boxy turns the brightness up on its own while it is showing — which is what makes another phone read it on the first try — and the 4-character code sits underneath for anyone who would rather type it. Share QR Code sends it as an image, for whoever wants to print it somewhere else. On paper: Print Labels, same as before. Every label now carries that same QR next to the code. Boxy's camera reads it, and so does the iPhone Camera app from the lock screen, without opening Boxy first. The code stays large and readable, so labels you printed months ago keep working exactly as they did. Print on continuous roll. In Print Labels, pick Continuous roll (thermal) and enter the width and length in millimetres: you get one label per page, instead of a small label stranded in the middle of an A4 sheet. Labels with room to spare now also print the category, the box's most-used tags and the date. Give a box its photo. Open a box, tap Edit, and Box Photo is the first section — camera or library, with a photo of what the box looks like with the lid off. It then sits at the top of the box, and a tap opens it full screen to zoom in. Tags, in the same screen, now belong to the box itself: tag one "Jacob" and "Memories" and find it by that, in search and in Spotlight, instead of remembering a code. Pick a colour, and pick from 32. Open Edit on a category, a box or a tag and the Color section holds 32 swatches instead of ten, laid out so each colour sits beside the ones it resembles. Every one of them was checked to keep its text readable in light mode and in dark mode, which the old ten were not: some read perfectly on white and left the label unreadable on black. Your existing categories keep the exact colour they already have. And every symbol Apple ships, in the Icon section. It has two tabs now: Suggested keeps the 140 hand-picked symbols it always had, and All symbols opens the whole system library, 4,083 of them, with Search symbols at the top. The search understands your language, so typing "box" or "kitchen" finds them without knowing what Apple called the symbol. Five more actions for Shortcuts, two of them by voice: "Get my inventory summary in BOXY" reads back your totals, "List my empty boxes in BOXY" tells you which boxes are free. In the Shortcuts app you also get a box summary, a backup file and a CSV export, so "back up to iCloud Drive every Sunday" is now a shortcut you can build. Siri answers again. Voice phrases had stopped reaching Siri after an earlier update; they are back. Shortcuts also run now when Boxy is closed, which is when automations actually fire. On iPad, categories fill the screen. The tiles were smaller than on iPhone and crowded into the top row. Thanks for using BOXY.

Import a CSV and your whole inventory lands in Boxy. Keep your things in Numbers, Excel or another app? Export to CSV and bring it all in at once: categories, boxes and what's inside. You review what will be imported before anything is written, and nothing gets duplicated. Included in the free plan. Also: better contrast on the labels in the restore screen, and a stability fix. Thanks for using BOXY.

Siri now knows where your things are. • Ask Siri "where did I put my drill in BOXY" and hear which box it's in, without opening the app • Store by voice: ask Siri to put something in a box or to start a new one, and BOXY reads the box code back to you • Shortcuts: over twenty actions for boxes, items, tags and photos, ready to drop into your own automations • Box codes are now unique across the app. If two boxes ever shared one, BOXY spots it and helps you renumber, so a scanned label always opens the right box • Sharing a category is now one tap away, from the toolbar or a long press • BOXY now speaks German, alongside English and Spanish Also in this update: each print option now says what it produces, box names read above their code, faster photo handling, cleaner Spotlight results, and a fix for dictation dropping words on iOS 26. Internal improvements that help us understand how the app is used, so we can make it better. No visible changes in this release.

Fixes an error message that appeared by mistake when you cancelled a purchase. Plus small internal improvements.

Fixes a rare crash on launch and improves startup reliability. If your data can't be opened, the app now recovers automatically when possible — or shows a recovery screen instead of closing. Your data is never deleted.

Name your boxes your way. Add custom aliases while keeping the original box codes, so it is easier to organize, scan, and find what belongs where. This update also adds a photo grid layout for box contents, making visual inventories faster to browse at a glance.

Fixed: Sharing errors now show clear, friendly messages instead of confusing technical type names — easier to understand when something can't be shared.

• Redesigned onboarding: streamlined from 9 pages to 5 for a faster, cleaner first experience • PRO features are now clearly labeled during onboarding so you know exactly what you're getting • Improved animations and visual polish throughout the onboarding flow • Bug fixes and performance improvements
