Perfect for beginners—I finally learned Spades!

I have really been enjoying playing Blvcker. I never knew how to play Spades, but this game taught me step by step in a way that was easy to understand. Now I feel confident and excited to play with actual cards. This is a great app for beginners and anyone looking to learn or improve their Spades skills.

My friends and I have been using blvck cards since high school to play spades and we couldn’t wait for the app to release, love supporting black businesses and everything. The interface and appearance of the app is smooth, not like most spades/card game apps where it’s loud colors and full of ads. I appreciate that the cards are sleek and true to real life, but there’s still more to be desired with the actual gameplay. We are currently trying to figure out how to create a private game with four of us, and as for team play on the main menu, the AI bots are really bad. They overbid a lot and make some really bad throws, games end up going way into the negatives. Pros and cons aside, if I had to make a suggestion, I (and a lot of other people most likely) would like a way to create a private room where you can have your own settings. I think I understand how the rules on winning work, but I would like to be able to play games to 500, input my own rules on blind bids and things like that. Thanks again, I can’t wait to see how the app develops and changes in the future.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. In order to create a private game, each participant has to be on the partner list of the person creating the table. From there, go to the profile of one of the desired participants and you will see a button that says “play.” When you click on that button, you will have the option of choosing JJDD or Ace High. It will also give you the option of being that person’s partner or playing against them. Once you send that person the invitation, a private game will be created. You will be able to invite the participant(s) by clicking on the seat that you will want them to be at. Once you do, a pop up will appear that will allow you to seat a bot, or the person of your choosing. Do the same for the 4th seat. Once everyone has accepted the invitation, the game will start. We also have a video posted on our IG page explaining how to create a private game. Visit @blvcker.app on IG to see it. We are aware of your other concerns and we are currently raising funds to make updates and build future iterations of the app. For now, we hope that you continue to play and share the app with friends. Love this game. It’s almost addictive but there are two things that make solo play less fun. The bag penalty, and the (seemingly) arbitrary declaration of winners. Eliminate the bag penalty and make understanding how to win solo play more obvious (maybe based on a score?), and I could happily play for hours.

Ya know, I REALLY appreciate that you gave us constructive feedback and still rated us 5 stars! You the real MVP! But, here’s the scoop on Solo mode:To win, you have to score at least 50 points more than the person with the lowest score. Sometimes you can do it in one round, sometimes it takes a few. As far as the bags, you are allowed to get 2 bags per game. (A game is made up of rounds until someone is declared the winner). For example, if you get 1 book over in the first hand/round, you can only go over by one in the rounds that come after. Once you’ve gone 3 books over (in a game) you will lose 50 points. So, the best strategy is to lose on purpose if you see that you have underbid by 3 books. That way you keep all your points. Thank you for your review! I hope this helps!
