In this update, we introduced automatic local backups. KitFlight now quietly saves a backup of every project to your device, including logs, photos, documents, inventory, categories, tags, and contributors. There's nothing to set up, and it works alongside iCloud sync as an extra safety net. Two copies are kept for each project: the latest backup and a monthly one, so there's always an older version to fall back on. If a project suddenly appears to be missing a lot of data, KitFlight keeps the existing backup instead of overwriting it. A new Local Autobackups screen shows each backup's size, contents, and age. Swipe a backup to share or delete it, and restore a project at any time through Import. Backups are kept even if a project is deleted, and the sidebar now shows when your last local backup was made. For extra peace of mind, you can store a copy away from your device: share a backup to cloud storage, or connect to a computer and copy the Backups folder from Finder. In this update, we introduced document attachments, letting you add PDFs such as receipts, manuals, checklists, and forms directly to your work log entries. Documents can be previewed right in KitFlight, are available in a new All Documents section, and sync across your devices with iCloud. A new Building Consistency insight shows how steadily you’re making progress, helping you keep an eye on your build momentum over time. Tagging and contributors are now easier to work with. Tap any tag in your log feed to quickly see all entries using it, and add multiple tags or contributors to a log in one step. Contributors can also be reordered and a primary builder selected, with your preferred order preserved during import/export. We also made backups more complete and reliable. Empty categories and tags, sort orders, tag colors, contributor settings, and attached documents are now properly included when exporting and importing your data. Thanks for building with KitFlight! In this update, we introduced a digital parts inventory, letting you register received parts, track their quantities, and set statuses for your parts, including backordered parts. Rich filtering makes it easy to find the parts you’re looking for, identify parts with mismatched quantities, see assembled parts, and more. Inventoried parts can also be added in a work log, letting you keep track of when and which part was used iCloud sync is now performed live, so you can truly move between iPhone, iPad and Mac seamlessly. Cleaned some more bugs off the leading edges: KitFlight JSON Import/Export received both UI and functional improvements, making it clearer what was imported or exported and what was skipped. The log entry editor UI was also changed to always show the “+” button, making it easier to mention contributors and parts, set tags, insert photos, and more. This update was made possible through the great collaboration with the community of aircraft home builders, especially the just starting RV-15 community! This update improves how photos work in your build logs. You can now rearrange photos within a log entry, and the order is preserved everywhere, including exports. The annotation system was redesigned to be faster and more flexible. To add an annotation, long press on a spot on the photo while editing a log entry. The log feed now shows larger photos with annotations rendered directly in the feed. Jekyll export was also improved with persistent photo filenames and better support for captions and annotations. This update was largely driven by feedback from Florian B., a Van’s RV-7A builder.

Added initial KitFlight Portal integration to enable faster integrations with kit manufacturers and third-party service providers, supporting digital inventory, parts reordering, service bulletin distribution, and compliance tracking.

Export your logs to Jekyll compatible markdown files and photo assets, publish your logs online at no extra cost.

Use tags to track time for different activities (such as test fitting or priming) in addition to using categories. Each log record can belong to a specific category but may have multiple tags. The photo gallery UX has also been changed to allow builders to see photo information in a more readable way, and to include contextual information about each photo taken. It is now possible to edit created categories and tags if needed. All these features were driven or suggested by current app users. Minor UI fixes

KitFlight now supports both light and dark mode, automatically matching your system settings.

Import your work log entries from the EAA Builders Log or MyKitLog websites in just minutes. Then save time and effort by tracking your build progress right from your phone or tablet.

You can now export your work logs to CSV or JSON files, including all photos with embedded metadata (log text, title, and photo description). The Gallery also has a new section that displays a photo grid for each registered category.

Building an airplane is a team effort. You can now mention contributors and track individual time spent if you choose to. This feature was suggested by Josh Welsh, a Van’s RV-14 builder. The EAA strongly recommends involving Technical Counselors to provide a second set of eyes and help ensure a “zero defect” aircraft at the final FAA inspection. With this update, you can easily find logs related to TC visits and gain more insightful records overall. Other improvements: - The app now remembers your last selected project instead of defaulting to the most recently created one. - Photo descriptions are now visible in the gallery view’s footer for better organization.
