Know what the water is doing before you get there. Smart Tide reads tide predictions straight from the agencies that publish them — KHOA in Korea, NOAA in the United States, and the Canadian Hydrographic Service — and puts them on your phone, lock screen, watch and home screen. No account. No sign-up. No analytics, no ad networks, no third-party SDKs of any kind. A CHART YOU CAN READ AT A GLANCE The day's curve fills the screen, with high and low marked where they actually fall. The background follows the time of day, so dawn looks like dawn and night is easy on your eyes at 4am. Press and hold anywhere on the curve to read the exact height at that moment. FIND YOUR STATION ON A MAP Start from the map, not a list. Pan to your stretch of coast and the stations are there — thousands of them across Korea, the United States and Canada. Search by name, or let the app find the closest one to you. Saving a station never yanks you to another screen; the map stays where you left it. Korean stations can be searched by 초성 or by romanization, so both 부산 and "busan" get you there. ON YOUR LOCK SCREEN, LIVE Start a Live Activity and the next high or low sits on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a small chart showing where the day is heading and dots marking the turns. Set it to start and end on its own for the hours you're usually out. WIDGETS AND APPLE WATCH Home screen widgets in several sizes, and complications for the watch face. Ask Siri for the next high tide without opening anything. METRES OR FEET, CELSIUS OR FAHRENHEIT One setting, and the app, the widgets and the watch all follow it — including alert thresholds, so nothing is left reading in the wrong unit. IT WORKS WHERE THE SIGNAL DOESN'T Tide predictions are astronomical, so they can be computed rather than fetched. When there's no bar at the shoreline, Smart Tide falls back to harmonic constants stored on the device and keeps showing you the curve. SUN, MOON AND CONDITIONS Sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset and the moon phase for the station you're looking at. Where the agency publishes them, water temperature and wind readings too. FOR KOREAN WATERS KHOA also publishes surfing, fishing and mudflat indexes, shown alongside the tide for Korean stations. SMART ALERTS Get a notification when conditions line up — a spring tide, warm water, wind picking up. Smart Tide only offers the alerts a station can actually report, so you never wait on one that was never going to arrive. SMART TIDE PRO The app is free and stays useful free: the chart, the map, every station, widgets, the watch app, Live Activities, Siri and offline mode are all included. Pro adds three things — the full 10-day forecast instead of 3 days, unlimited smart alerts instead of 1, and unlimited saved stations instead of 3 — as a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase with Family Sharing. BEFORE YOU RELY ON IT Tide predictions are forecasts. Wind, pressure and storm surge move real water away from them, sometimes a long way. Useful features and interface, with room for some improvements.

Current features work great. It is nice that a map of the location is provided in the small window, but it will be nice to provide a map with all of the tide points, available, near the person's location.That's way, the person can choose their preferred location before heading to the area as noted on a map.

Finally a good looking tide app. However, tide times are only available in UTC and you can't change. Confusing to try to figure out what time it is every time. Please update in the future to change to current time zone or at least the time zone the station is in. Great app!

Pretty but totally useless

Really hreat user interface BUT of no use at all. Deleting...wasted $. Has very few tide stations (only about 20 per US state so the chances of it having one where u are is almost non existent) needs the full list of tide and current points available in competing apps eg. MultiTide. Has no currents (despite saying tide currents were recently added). Would be a great app if they significantly updated it to include all tide stations & currents. Would be glad to help the developers if they're interested.

Smart Tide goes global, and gets a new name. NEW NAME "Tide Current" read as tidal current — the horizontal flow of water, which this app has never claimed to compute. It's Smart Tide now. NEW: THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA Thousands of NOAA and Canadian Hydrographic Service stations join the Korean ones. Pick your source, or search across all of them. NEW: FIND STATIONS ON A MAP Station discovery starts from the map instead of a Korea-first list. Saving a station keeps you where you are rather than throwing you to another screen, and your saved stations sit in a row along the top of the map. NEW: METRES OR FEET Switch height, temperature and wind units in one place. The app, the widgets, the watch and your alert thresholds all follow. NEW: KOREAN, ENGLISH AND FRENCH Fully translated, with Korean station names romanized so they read properly in every language. Regions now say which country they're in — "West Sea" alone was not much help outside Korea. FIXED: alerts that could never fire You could set a surfing alert on a station that doesn't measure waves. It would simply stay silent forever. Smart Tide now only offers the alerts a station can actually report, and says why when one isn't available. FIXED: Live Activities disappearing One you started by hand would be shut down a moment later by the automatic schedule. It now leaves your manual ones alone, refreshes more reliably in the background, and leads with the next high or low rather than a current height that could go stale. FIXED: Siri failing on US and Canadian stations "What's the next high tide?" returned "station not found" for anything outside Korea. FIXED: long station names breaking the saved list Names like "Redwood Creek Marker 8" wrapped and squeezed the tide reading onto two lines. ALSO A redrawn chart with a full-width curve and a background that follows the time of day. High and low points marked on the Live Activity chart. Confirmation before deleting a station that has alerts attached. Nearest-station lookup no longer suggests a station on another continent.
