What Changed: Reliable Push Notifications for Every Destination WandrLyst sends weekly research-source push notifications to your iPhone and iPad as you plan upcoming trips — new travel articles, local-perspective blog posts, and destination guides curated to your specific city. The system routes content from destination-keyed pools to each trip based on a canonical key derived from the trip's coordinates. Until v1.4.2, the client-side derivation silently rejected any city name containing Latin-script diacritics — so trips to Nyköping, Montréal, São Paulo, München, Reykjavík, and many other destinations were left without a routing key. Their push notifications were silently dropped at the server's fan-out layer, with no on-device indication that anything was missing. This release transliterates Latin-script diacritics to ASCII before the key is finalized: Nyköping resolves to nykoping-se, Montréal to montreal-ca, São Paulo to sao-paulo-br. The long tail of European and Latin American destinations is now fully covered. Non-Latin scripts (CJK, Cyrillic, Arabic) require locale-aware romanization that's out of scope for this release and remains a separate effort. A companion fix repairs legacy data from an older client version that wrote raw display strings — values like "Cork, Co. Cork" — directly into the canonical-key field. The backfill that runs on app launch now validates the shape of any existing key, not just its presence, and re-derives malformed values into the proper city-cc form. A version flag ensures the backfill runs once for users who already completed it under the previous rules, so existing trips get re-keyed without manual intervention. End-to-end production push delivery was verified on real devices for the first time during this release cycle, closing a long-standing observability gap in the notification pipeline.

WandrLyst declared English and French as supported languages from the start, but localization coverage was limited to roughly 10% of the app — only the Itinerary feature had French translations, housed in a single .xcstrings String Catalog file. The remaining 90% of user-facing text across 200+ Swift files was hardcoded English. When a French-speaking user opened the app, navigation titles, menu items, buttons, onboarding cards, error messages, empty states, and AI chat responses all appeared in English. This change brings the entire app to French parity — every user-facing string now resolves through the localization system, and AI-generated content respects the device language.
