The New York Magazine app was built to help you, our most valued readers and subscribers, get the most out of your reading experience.
What’s included in the app:
- It’s a Pleasure: Our app is the most enjoyable way to read us on your phone — for one thing, there are fewer log-ins.
- Switch to Dark Mode: Enjoy reading in dark or standard mode, whichever suits you best.
- Switch Between Sites With Ease: Conveniently toggle between the quick takes, deep dives, and long reads across Vulture, The Cut, Intelligencer, Curbed, Grub Street, and the Strategist. Seamlessly switch between your favorite sites or set the home page to your go-to.
- Introducing “Your New York”: Find your saved articles, reading history, and audio queue in the new “Your New York” tab. Get shortcuts to TV recaps, games, horoscopes, and shopping deals; personalized recommendations; and more must-read stories.
- Listen: Select stories in the app are now available as audio. Queue audio stories for easy, hands-free listening.
- Be the First to Know What Everyone’s Talking About: With notifications and a “Collections” section, both exclusive to the app, you’ll get first access to the most-talked-about stories across New York.
- Join the Conversation: Comment on articles and dive into discussions on your favorite stories.
Just downloaded the app a few days ago. So far everything seems fine. I like the clean simple design. No crashes or buggy behavior to report. Much better reading experience compared to the web browser. However, the main reason I finally downloaded the app had to do with saving stories for future reading. Unfortunately, I’m not finding this feature in the app. Very disappointing when compared to other magazine apps such as Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, which both allow you to save stories into a “library” feature. Hoping to see this feature soon in an upcoming version of the app.

Hi there — thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We hope the Save for Later feature has been a useful addition since it launched a few months ago. If you have more feedback or ideas, we’d love to hear from you at appfeedback@nymag.com.
Great content! Subpar mobile experience on iPad.

I still subscribe to NY Mag after many years living away from NYC. The content is great, fun, irreverent, and useful. Please make the mobile app iPad-friendly - larger & landscape-compatible. Reading a teensy little rectangle on my nice big screen is frustrating. On the phone, fine. But let us take advantage of bigger screen real estate.
We finally have an app!

So we finally have an iPhone app for the New York magazine which is longgggg overdue and while I am happy that I don’t have to muddy my browser tabs with random articles anymore, there are a few user interface improvements I’d love to see such as the ability to bookmark articles to read later (how is this not a feature????) and the option for a night mode feature — the bright white interface is not appealing at all when I’m in bed. And maybe these features do exist but IF they do then they are not clearly accessible enough for me to not write a review about.
Developer Response
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us and we’re glad you like having all of the articles you want to read in one place. We’re gathering all user feedback on the app for consideration and will be sure to share your requests for bookmarking articles and night mode with our team. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with us and we look forward to introducing more features soon for readers like you!
Finally it’s hereeee!

I’ve been waiting for a New York magazine app to make a return for years! First thoughts are…it was worth the wait, and didn’t disappoint. I enjoy reading on the app because it’s so much easier and it’s been a better experience for me overall. I also have a preference for aesthetically pleasing app designs so I’m excited to see how much more personalized the app will be in the future!
We’ve made some general optimizations and improvements. For any questions or feedback, please reach out to appfeedback@nymag.com.
