2.1.2 includes a critical fix for background crashes that might cause the app to fail to launch A focused follow-up to 2.1 with sharper Breaking News, more reliable auto-read, YouTube live and Shorts support, a proper Vision Pro icon, and important fixes for archived-article resurrection during sync. New - YouTube: live streams and Shorts are now supported, with the video embedded inline for video-only items. - Redeem an offer code from Paywall or Settings — entitlements refresh immediately after redemption. - End-of-list auto-read: when you reach the bottom of a list, the remaining unread items are queued to be marked read. - visionOS: proper flat platform app icon on Vision Pro. Improvements - Sharper Breaking News clustering: entity-aware title tokenization, a temporal-boilerplate veto, and a lone-word guard to prevent false groupings. - Breaking News actions now behave as a story: unread-first display, story-scoped read and delete, and a proper "mark story read" behavior. - Breaking reader sheets are hosted at the home level so cards can reorder without dismissing what you're reading. - Scroll auto-read is now id-keyed and survives in-place relists and long refreshes, preventing rare stalls. - Hardened cleanup of AI-generated summaries and excerpts: hallucinated "tool result" transcripts and bare-identifier outputs are rejected, and Siri intents surface a clear "unusable summary" error instead of returning garbage. Existing summaries and excerpts are repaired in a one-time pass. - Reader/scrape pipeline: adaptive scrape-skipping, better image-post heuristics, image caption injection for image-only articles, and site-specific fixes (Gizmodo). - Low Power Mode gating for AI scanners and List Overview to reduce battery use on the go. - List Overview briefings now honor your device language, and unsupported-language errors are surfaced clearly instead of retrying. - Top Story notification throttle relaxed to 30 minutes. - Tag inline renames now persist reliably, and Select All on iOS single-panel devices enters edit mode first. - Time-based tabs (Today, Week) are hidden when your article expiry window would make them redundant. - New installs default to a 5-day expiry and auto-read on scroll; existing installs keep their current settings. Fixes - Fixed a bug where "Mark all archived" articles could reappear as unread after an iCloud or Nearby sync. Archived state is now reasserted after CloudKit imports, and Nearby reconciliation filters out recently-archived items. - Prevented stale iCloud badge snapshots from being seeded on device. - Fixed a NearbyHistory crash caused by resolving persistent-history rows that had already been deleted. - Fixed network decompression memory crashes by removing manual Accept-Encoding headers and using safer buffer handling. - Numerous small stability, layout, and localization fixes.
