Saints are considered ambassadors of God and have a great importance in Hindu religion. Gajanan Maharaj (February 23, 1878 - September 8, 1910) was a was first noticed by Shri Bankatlal outside Shri Devidas Paturkar's residence on the street. Gajanan Maharaj had reached Godhead and showed various miracles. His favorite mantra was "Gani Gan Ganat Bote" by virtue of which he was known as "Gajanan Maharaj".
Gajanan Vijay grantha was created by Shri Dasaganu Maharaj and depicts the life of Shri Gajanan Maharaj. Shri Gajanan Vijay Granthatha has 21 chapters which are commonly known as “Adyayas” and each chapter gives a very beautiful description of “Leelas” by Shri Gajanan Maharaj. This grantha is read by devotees on a daily basis as a prayer to HIM.
Shegaon, the Samadhi place of Shri Gajanan Maharaj is located about 300 KM (186 miles) west of Nagpur and is well connected by road and rail. Anand Sagar is a beautiful 350-acre park and spiritual center developed by Shri Gajanan Maharaj Mandir Trust. Nearest airports to Shegaon are Indore and Nagpur.
