Numbers by Ear: Listen & Speak
Hear it, type it, say it back
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Train your ear for numbers in dozens of languages. Hear a number, type it, say it back, and play games that turn listening practice into fun. Free to start.
Numbers are the hardest words to catch. A price at the register, a train announcement, a phone number read out fast: you know every word, and still the number slips past. Numbers by Ear trains exactly that, in dozens of languages, with the voices already on your iPhone or iPad.
HEAR IT, TYPE IT
Listen to a number and type what you heard. Each answer stays on screen, written out in words, so the moment "quatre-vingt-dix-sept" becomes 97 is the one you remember. Replay it, slow it down, and climb from single digits to millions.
LEARN HOW NUMBERS ARE BUILT
Tap any number to hear it, see it written out and see the pieces it is said in. Each language's building blocks come in order, with notes on the parts that trip learners up.
SAY IT BACK
See a number and say it aloud. It is checked on your device, so you see what was heard and can hear how the voice says it. Nothing is recorded or sent.
PLAY WITH NUMBERS
Stars from practice open short games in every language: deliver parcels to the house you heard, crack a safe, play bingo, spot whales by calling out squares, and more. Some of them you play by speaking.
EVERYDAY NUMBERS
Prices, times, dates, phone numbers, years, percentages, decimals, ordinals and codes, spoken the way each language actually says them, alone or inside everyday sentences.
FIND YOUR TROUBLE SPOTS
Stats show which numbers you mix up and which ones you only get right slowly. Fix This builds a session from exactly those.
A DAILY GOAL
Ten right answers a day, from any mix of practice and games, make a day of your week. An optional reminder comes only on days you have not practiced yet.
