Landeck Castle is the bridge builder in the Tyrolean Oberland between culture, mysticism, spirituality and business and provides a unique experience for all visitors and guests.

Landeck Castle was built as a castle around 1290 as a seat for the court and administration. The name “Landecke” appears for the first time in 1251 in a fiefdom document from the Bishop of Brixen.
In the 14th century the name was transferred to the castle and the “court”, that is, the administrative district. It included the Stanzertal and the settlements of Fließ and Zams. Landeck has only existed as a separate municipality since 1900, when the villages of Angedair, Perfuchs, Perjen and Bruggen merged. In 1904 Landeck became a market and in 1923 a city.
The castle remained the court and administrative seat until 1797. It then served as a hospital, barracks and, after 1900, as quarters for workers at the Continentale carbide factory. (Carbide is a compound of carbon and calcium used in industry for hardening and coating.)
