As I have recently turned 21, this app is a great way to get to know mixology. It allows you to input all the ingredients that you have in your bar, and recommends other things for you to buy so you can round out your collection. The app tells you how many different cocktails you can make from your current setup, and even offers substitutions for certain items if you’re just an ingredient or so off. There is a shopping cart so you can remember what you are looking to buy as well which is a convenient way to go about things. Basically an all in one app for the home bar enthusiast who wants to expand their collection and knowledge of various drinks. You are also able to keep a running list of what you’ve tried and mark cocktails of your interest that you are looking forward to trying. It would be neat to see some sort of rating system in the future to know what the best brands to buy are, though it’s not like the app is lacking without this. Community rankings so you know what the best price for value brands are, underrated brands, etc. For now however, the app is in a really good state, and the cocktail wheel is a bonus touch that when you don’t know what to make for yourself, you can let the app decide for you. Hopefully more features and recipes get added over time! Shoutouts to Pat for such a great app!

This isn’t just a database of cocktails. The developer clearly put a lot of thought and attention into how someone would use this app. You can read other reviews for the features, but I wanted to highlight just how intuitive the app is — literally everytime I think, “I’d like to have a cocktail for dinner,” it gives me the options I need to figure out what I want — whether it’s based on what I have available, what I’m in the mood for, what I want to pair with a dish. And it seems like such a simple piece of functionality, but I just loved that it anticipated how I would want to use the app. Thanks for building it!!

Shines Where Other Bar Apps Fail

This is a great bar app. Beautifully designed and intuitive. Has some really cool functionality. Handles alcohol substitutions well if you don’t have exact stuff per cocktail specs. Also has a great feature that tells you which additional ingredients you can buy to enable making x more drinks, which really helps the discovery process. Haven’t seen either of these features executed well (if at all) in other bar apps. As a big cocktail guy this app has been really fun and helpful to use.

So many of these apps fall short. Not this one. Smart ingredient subs, what cocktails can you make, manage your bar, why buy x ingredient. It has so many useful features all with a simple UI to navigate.Mixels is great too but I wanted something with real pictures & this app is way easier to navigate.
