GPS Trace 3.8 makes every screen clearer and easier to browse. GPS details are readable at a glance: speed, position, accuracy, and heading. Everyday settings are simpler, and advanced options stay available when you need them.

Internal improvements for compatibility with the latest system versions. No visible changes in this update.

Your track keeps going when you stop, change pace, or put the phone away. Walking, cycling, or driving: recording resumes on its own and stays active in the background. Long outings stay smooth, even with thousands of points. The map, the charts, and saving no longer freeze. Aberrant GPS points are dropped: no more multi-kilometer jumps or impossible altitude spikes. The track you save matches the path you actually traveled.

More faithful tracking as soon as you change pace — on foot, by bike, or by car. GPS adapts to the mode, stays accurate at red lights, and notifies you when it switches.

Export your tracks as GPX, KML, GeoJSON, or CSV. Follow a live recording from a Home Screen widget. Record from Apple Watch even when iPhone is out of range — the track syncs back to iPhone afterwards.

More reliable, more transparent, App Store–ready. GPS Trace clearly declares how your data is used, diagnoses crashes on-device only (no third-party uploads), and handles critical cases more safely: more dependable Apple Watch sync, conflict-free location onboarding, and automatic recovery if the local database is damaged — so your tracks stay front and center, without unnecessary interruptions.

Smarter, smoother GPS tracking — tracks stay closer to your real path when you change speed or mode. Better stop/resume speed on iPhone and CarPlay, denser sampling on turns, and cleaner GPX exports (speed, course, accuracy). Updated About and onboarding screens for Watch, CarPlay, and Live Activity.

Improved speed accuracy after stops. Live speed now resumes correctly when you start moving again, so the display no longer stays stuck at 0 km/h after a pause.

Fixed speed at standstill (0 km/h). CarPlay dashboard and recording control. Apple Watch: synced stats and live complication. More reliable Live Activity.

CarPlay: tile-based dashboard (distance, speed, duration, points) and start/stop from your car screen. Apple Watch: improved interface, live stats, and updated complication. More reliable sync between iPhone, Watch, and CarPlay. Improved resume after auto-save. Accessibility: better VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support.

GPS Trace now supports CarPlay. Control your recording right from your car’s display: start or stop a track with a tap, and monitor live distance, speed, duration, and GPS point count. Perfect for driving: stay focused on the road while keeping full control of your recording session.

Fixes Apple Watch app launch, displays as « GPS Trace », and improves GPS handling after location permission is granted.

This update improves reliability after your GPS activities. After you save or share a track, the app automatically clears the live recording session for a cleaner map and less wasted storage. Long recordings: better stability and smoother GPX sharing. Minor fixes for a cleaner, more responsive everyday experience.

This update improves GPS recording reliability and Apple Watch remote control. Distance is shown only during an active recording More reliable resume after autosave (distance, track, and Dynamic Island) Better Live Activity sync, including after long pauses More stable Apple Watch commands to start or stop recording on iPhone Stronger security for external recording links (confirmation required) Improved stability and performance

Faster access, higher visibility, and stronger day-to-day usability. With Siri/Shortcuts voice actions, one-tap access to the latest track, and Live Activity on the Lock Screen / Dynamic Island, users save time and stay informed throughout recording sessions. The outcome is a more modern, premium, and engaging product experience—while preserving reliability through robust integration and dedicated tests.

GPS Trace now feels clearer and calmer when something goes wrong: error screens focus on what matters first, with technical details available when you need them — reassuring for everyday use, still helpful for support. Haptic feedback is optional: you can turn vibrations on or off for key actions like recording, saving, and resuming a track. Accessibility is improved: the map and live stats work better with VoiceOver, so more people can follow their activity with confidence. Behind the scenes, the app benefits from cleaner architecture and extra automated tests, supporting reliability and future updates.

GPS Trace now feels more polished and easier to scan: Settings and Track History have been refreshed with clearer section headers, compact stat chips, and more refined empty states. While recording, the map shows a swipeable glass-style mini-chart carousel for live altitude and speed, so key metrics stay visible without cluttering the UI. Under the hood, modal flows are cleaner, and new unit tests improve confidence around unit formatting, main navigation routing, and altitude chart data preparation.

Code optimization

Clearer privacy messaging for location access (while using the app and in the background), in English and French. Improved reliability when recording and viewing tracks (GPS point saving and opening existing GPX data). Minor technical updates for a more stable experience.

Open GPX tracks straight from the Files app. GPS Trace now registers for .gpx files—share or “Open with” launches the app and shows the route on the map, with no extra import step. File loading is more robust across different file sources on device.
