Missing the Original Format (So Flippin’ Much!)

The game used to be wonderfully challenging, but a few days ago, the previous format was *poof* gone. The new format negates the building blocks and strategy of the original Shanghai Mahjong, which was unique and fun— I was remiss in offering a five star review when starting to play—but now it's like other matching "mahjongg" games. I’ll play for a little while and see if it improves, but mostly I’ll enjoy the old format in the form of Daily Challenges, on the bottom right of the homepage. The dailies are indeed *very* challenging, but so much fun! When daily challenges run out (or are deleted) I will likely bid my adieu. But thank you, I truly enjoyed the former game at its highest level!

I used the word puzzle instead of Mahjong because I play a lot of puzzle games and I already compared this to all the Mahjong games and it wins hands down. There is nothing I would change about this game and I have tested it to level 2,000. That’s correct I can’t not play this game before bed time. It is not a straight forward mahjong game in that it has tournaments as well as mini challenges. So much fun to play all the other side games. I don’t think any game even compares. And to the developers that made this kudos to you for the best ever. Genius developers and I’m not kidding.

I am very concerned about the direction this app appears to be taking. I have genuinely enjoyed playing it, but the recent version introduces a significant change to the gameplay: a box at the top that allows players to store up to four tiles.I have seen this same approach used in Vita Mahjong, and in my experience, it made the game significantly easier and less enjoyable. Eventually, I also encountered puzzles that appeared to be unsolvable unless additional ads were watched in order to continue playing. I ultimately stopped playing Vita Mahjong for this reason. I had paid for the ad-free version, yet the way the game was structured effectively pushed players toward watching additional ads.I am concerned that I am now seeing a similar direction with this app. Please do not go down this path.If players pay for an ad-free experience, there should not be a gameplay mechanic that effectively forces them into watching ads in order to continue. That feels deceptive and takes away from the enjoyment and integrity of the game.I understand that advertising generates revenue, but short-term revenue should not come at the expense of player trust. Practices that make players feel they are being deliberately pushed into watching more ads can ultimately damage the reputation of the company and cause loyal players to leave.I sincerely hope you will reconsider this direction and preserve what makes the game enjoyable in the first place. I would much rather continue supporting this app than have to delete it and find an alternative that offers a genuinely fair and transparent experience.Thank You!

Players can freely switch between sections to enjoy the fun of traditional mahjong matching.As for the top buffer design, it adds a new tactical layer. As levels progress, puzzles grow more challenging, requiring deeper thinking and better space planning. Beyond the core gameplay of spotting and matching identical tiles in classic mode, this feature brings extra strategic puzzle-solving depth, and we hope it brings you more enjoyment.In addition, Shanghai Mahjong will not alter gameplay mechanics to force more ads.
