Best language app ever. One caveat - it hits you with several screens to purchase BEFORE you try it and I almost deleted the app. I had no idea there were some free lessons and wow, I’m so glad I saw the option, “try free lessons” when I tapped the icon to delete it. This is unbelievably well done. You can wait as long as you need, to formulate a response. Then it tells you how to say your phrases properly if needed. This is really like having a private tutor, but one with infinite patience and time.

Cannot handle single syllable words

The main problem here is they have done nothing to mitigate the problem of the AI not having enough context to understand single syllable words. They build in single word repetition at the beginning of many early lessons. This results in lots of frustration, and many times you either have to choose skip - which is inconsistently available - or deliberately mispronounce the word. Eg in French, pronounce the final consonant, even if incorrect.

AI tutor that can’t speak

I don’t understand why this app has such a high rating. The “AI Tutor” doesn’t actually talk — it only communicates through text.If the goal is to practice listening and speaking, this app doesn’t help. You can only practice reading.Also, the tutor has an animated face that moves but never says anything, which feels very strange.Maybe something is wrong with my version, but if not, this feature is very misleading.
