Honestly, I was looking for new brain games that actually challenged me when I stumbled across this app, and I’m in LOVE. You can add your friends for that competitive edge, look at the scoreboard and see how you rank against people from all over the world. AND there are no ads!You can pay for the expansion packs, but they’re such a reasonable price that you don’t even have to bat an eye at it. I will literally never delete this app.I’m a real person and I’m not paid to say this 😂 I NEVER leave reviews, but for this one I literally had to.

Fun game! The only downside is when I’m completely cornered and either have to just make a blind guess or rely on a hint telling me a move. I understand that’s just part of the game though. I’ve already completed every pack available so now can only play the daily/weekly games, hope more packs can be added soon!

“Hints” are a joke

I was excited this app had an option for “hints” I started playing star battle on and used the “hints” to learn the strategy of playing the game. The only downside of the Hoshi App is a lack of hints to explain the next right move I was excited when this app introduced a “hint” function, but they’re often useless at actually teaching how to play the game. A minute of advertisements for a hint that says “each puzzle has a unique way to solve it. I have identified this field should be X shape for you” without explaining how the game works so that you’re able to learn enough to not need a hint next time. It feels like such a waste of time spent watching an ad to learn nothing.

We totally get that a good hint system should not only help you solve the puzzle but also teach you how to think through the solution.Tango's solving strategies can sometimes be quite limited, and players can get stuck in what we call a "Chain Contradiction Loop"—where every logical step seems to depend on another, making it tricky to break free. This is exactly why hints can sometimes feel less direct than expected.That said, our hint system isn't simple—it currently includes 20 different solving cases and over 1000 lines of code, working hard behind the scenes to guide players. I love this game - it’s become a nightly ritual before bed and has helped me replace doom scrolling! But, sadly I’ve had to stop playing because of the emoji icon update .. PLEASE, PLEASE bring the original icons back! The emojis are not intuitive to the logic of this game making playing such an unenjoyable user experience. Reading other reviews lets me know in not alone.

I agree, I miss the old design too! Sadly, this change was forced by legal threats from a large company. As a solo dev, this was the only way to ensure the app stays available for everyone. Tip: Try the "symbol" emojis in the board customizer for a similar minimalist style. Thanks for your understanding 😖
- Update: When a puzzle has been replaced with a fixed version, restarting the board now loads the new one.
- Problem solved: The Ramen-Chef explains that your copy of a puzzle is out of date instead of showing a cryptic error.
