So far ASL Lingo has been great!Having friends and family members that work as interpreters, as well as, numerous deaf friends, this app really does a great job teaching basics and understanding to be able to communicate through ASL. The self paced lessons really make learning easy. Plus I love having the dictionary available at all times! I am so glad to be able to share this app to others and for others to be able to learn ASL!! Also, I absolutely love the regional sign differences that get thrown in here and there…fantastic 🤍

Fun way to learn ASL

I’ve always wanted to learn ASL. This app is fun and engaging. I’ve already learned so many words in just 3 days. I can select the speed of the video of the person teaching the sign and can watch it repeatedly untilI get it. Lessons are not long or overwhelming, and I enjoy them. There are a few glitches that I have run into. 1.) I cannot get the Practice section of the app to work, and I have contacted support about it. I have not yet heard back from them. 2.) During a quiz, the person signed “Bye” with the waving hand gesture. I typed in the word “bye” and it was counted wrong but then stated that the correct answer was “bye.” That was a little frustrating. 3.) In the videos where I am supposed to select the words in the order she signs them, there have been 3 occasions where none of the words she signs are listed choices. As a matter of fact, they are not even closely related. Of course, it won’t let me move one without selecting answers; so I end up getting them wrong…because there is no right answer! I am still having fun learning and aside from the few glitches described, I’m loving it!

I really love this app. I wanted to learn ASL for our deaf customers. Also I’ve started to lose my hearing. The app could you some updates. Sometimes there are word choices on the screen you can’t see. You’ll get the answer wrong. It keeps telling me I need an update but when I click on it says it’s up to date. This has happened every day this week. I have recommended this to others- both coworkers and customers who come into our bookstore for ASL books. Seeing someone sign back to me has greatly helped me with reading sign back.

Fun, interactive lessons

I have tried a few ASL apps and enjoy this app the most. Interactive lessons, option to slow down the videos, and clear demonstrations so far. I know finger spelling, but this is great to learn more. I think it would be a cool feature for the app to mark whether you are signing correctly or not, when turning on your camera (turn green/or red if correct/incorrect).
