Ezra besucht über die Sommerferien ihre Großeltern auf dem Land. Zusammen mit ihrem Cousin Alex will sie das alte Baumhaus aufhübschen und mit ihrem Opa Apfelsaft pressen. So wie jedes Jahr...
Doch dieses Jahr durchkreuzt ein politischer Konflikt die Idylle Statt im Baumhaus abzuhängen navigieren Spieler:innen Ezra und Alex durch Meinungen, Argumente, Verschwörungsdenken und Fake News. Dabei bleibt aber immer noch Zeit ein Gürkchen zu knabbern.

Das Point&Click Adventure EZRA ermöglicht 10-13 jährigen einen spielerischen Erstkontakt mit Möglichkeiten politischer Partizipation in Deutschland. In direkter Anlehnung ans Curriculum wurde das Spiel in gemeinsam mit dem dazugehörigen Lehrmaterial in enger Kooperation mit Kolleg:innen der Pädagogischen Hochschule Freiburg und dem Zentrum für didaktische Computerspieleforschung entwickelt.
Das Spiel ist maximal für den Einsatz im Unterricht optimiert. Die Hürden für den erfolgreichen Einsatz des Spiels wurden inhaltlich, sowie von hard und Software Anforderung auf das aktuelle mögliche Minimum reduziert.
Alle Inhalte wurden partizipativ mit Kindern Jugendlichen entwickelt und in allen Iterationsstufen mit der Zielgruppe getestet.

A Summer Adventure
Ezra is spending the summer holidays at her grandparents’ house in the countryside. Together with her cousin Alex, she’s planning to fix up their old treehouse and press fresh apple juice with Grandpa—just like every year…
But this summer, things take a different turn.
Instead of chilling in the treehouse, players help Ezra and Alex navigate heated opinions, arguments, conspiracy theories, and fake news sparked by a local political conflict.
Still, there’s always time for a crunchy pickle break.

EZRA is a point-and-click adventure that gives kids aged 10–13 a playful first encounter with political participation in Germany. Closely aligned with the curriculum, the game was developed in cooperation with educators from the University of Education Freiburg and the Center for Research in Didactic Computer Games, along with comprehensive teaching materials.
The game is fully optimized for use in classrooms. Technical and content-related barriers have been reduced to a minimum to ensure smooth implementation on common hardware and software setups.
All content was developed in a participatory process with children and young people and tested with the target audience throughout every stage of development.
