• Places now work for everyone: add a place to each photo or video when you share. Flashes suggests places nearby, and readers see under the post where each photo was taken.

Where your photos were taken Add a place to each photo or video when you share: Flashes suggests places nearby, and readers see under the post where each photo was taken. Camera data can be chosen per photo too, and the share screen shows each photo with its alt text, place and camera data on one card. Also new • Profile links: see the links people put on their profile, and add your own. • "Liked by" shows which people you follow liked a post. You can switch it off. • Posts from someone's own thread carry their number ("2/5"). • Hide only someone's replies or reposts from your feeds, without muting them. • Keep your account out of algorithmic recommendations, and take yourself out of someone else's Starter Pack. • Videos up to 10 minutes and 300 MB. • Keyboard shortcuts on iPad with a hardware keyboard. • Choose your content provider in Settings, for each account. • Follow notifications say which Starter Pack someone followed you from. • The feed's title floats as a pill over a see-through bar. Fixed • Deleting a post now also deletes its places and camera data. • Photos and videos are uploaded without the location stored in the file; only a place you choose is shared. • A report you sent could show as failed. • When the sign-in service is down, Flashes says so instead of "Profile Loading Failed".

Auto-translate is back Captions in other languages now show in yours, translated right on your iPhone. Choose the languages you read in Settings → Timeline Settings → Languages & Translations: feeds show posts in those languages, or in every language, and Flashes counts along while it translates. Also new • Notification filters: All, Mentions, Subscriptions, Quotes and Follows, floating over the list. Fixed • Lists jumped back up when a post with a photo gallery came into view, so you couldn't scroll past it. • The end of the Quotes list and of a profile's lists jumped back to the 50th post. • Counts under an opened post could be cut off ("Lik…"). • Search showed posts by accounts you muted. • Videos sometimes opened full screen without their controls. • Tips kept coming back after you closed them. • Dragging a saved feed in the feeds editor could move a different one. • Liking or reposting from a notification failed for some notifications. • The app could freeze at launch or while handling notifications. • A post waiting to retry its upload now says so, and several photos and videos are named correctly. • VoiceOver says which picture of a gallery is showing.

• Push notifications now show the photo, or the person's picture when someone follows you. • New: skip the photo filter screen, so a single photo goes straight into your post. Composer Settings → Skip photo filters. • Touch and hold the like or repost button to see who liked, reposted or quoted a photo. • Links didn't open once you were signed in. • Your own stories didn't show up, or showed an error. • The "Stories Setup Error" alert kept coming back every few seconds. • Hashtags with capital or non-Latin letters opened a feed that failed or missed posts. • A profile's bio could overlap its follower counts. • Likes could flip back to unliked after moving between screens. • Videos posted from Flashes could show with the wrong aspect ratio. • Attached photos lost their bottom edge. • The photo picker now lists Recents and albums in the same order as Photos. • The video Cover step is gone — the frame you picked never reached the post. • The camera could crash when you tapped the shutter right after opening it. • The ALT editor opened empty right after a description was written for you. • Quote posts now get your post language instead of English. • Posts with a link to some sites, such as Wikipedia, failed to send. • If you sign in through your server's sign-in page, you couldn't see, change or verify your e-mail address. You may be asked to sign in once more. • You could be signed out if Flashes went to the background while it was renewing your sign-in. • Quoted posts that your filters hide showed in full, and a post opened on its own page ignored your content filters. • Posts with a warning that covers the whole post weren't collapsed. • Labels from moderation services you subscribe to had no effect, and some labelers were listed twice. • Notifications from accounts you've blocked or muted stayed in the list. • Notifications now load in the background and keep your place when new ones arrive. • A notification row could run off the edge of the screen, and display names with slashes looked wrong. • Switching between Top and Latest in Search showed an error. • "Hide numbers" now takes effect right away. • Starting a direct message with some accounts failed. • Lists and starter packs showed Follow for people you already follow, and "Followed by … and N others" counted N wrong. • The feed preferences button in a profile's feed opened a blank page. • YouTube links from a playlist showed and played the wrong video. • iPad: links on the Profile tab didn't open, and the image viewer's bottom bar could hide part of the picture. • VoiceOver reads a post before who reposted it, says when a post is a reply and to whom, and announces videos and their ALT text.

Photo descriptions, written on your iPhone Flashes can now describe your photos for you. Add a picture to a post and a description is written automatically, in the language you're posting in — and all of it happens on your iPhone. Your photos are never sent anywhere to do it. You stay in charge: tap ALT on any photo to read, edit, rewrite or regenerate the description before you post. Turn the whole thing on or off in Composer Settings. For a photo app, this is what decides whether someone using VoiceOver can follow along — now every picture you share comes with a description by default. Also new • Haptic feedback is now off by default. If you liked the tap when a post goes out, switch it back on in Composer Settings. • Handles now show in full. If you preferred them shortened, that's in Settings -> Accessibility & Display -> Font Size & Display -> Shorten handles. Fixed • A photo that couldn't be read no longer fails quietly — Flashes tells you which one, and your post stays intact. • Search could hang for a long time without explaining itself. It now stops after 15 seconds and tells you what went wrong. • Search results come back faster. • Notification settings sometimes failed to save without saying so. They save reliably now. • A muted account stayed visible when someone else quoted them. • Fixed a freeze that could happen when a video started playing.

Flashes 1.10.1 **Fix for Push Notifications -> Go to the Notifications tab and enable them** Our biggest update yet: push notifications, a personalized For You feed, group messages — and an app that starts a lot faster. NEW • Push notifications. Flashes finally pushes. Get notified about likes, comments, reposts, mentions, quotes, new followers and stories, each with its own switch. • A notifications tab built for Flashes. Notifications now come from our own service and centre on the photos you post here. For each category, choose whether it covers everyone or only people you follow. Turn "Only activity from this app" off to see activity on your other Bluesky posts too. The badge and the list also refresh when you open the app. • "For You" — a personalized photo feed that gets better the more you like. Keep liking and we'll tell you when yours is ready. • Discover is the new default feed, so there's plenty to see from the very first launch. "Global" is now called "Latest". • A new way in. Create an account right in the app, or sign in to one you already have — no app password to make, copy or paste. New accounts pick a home: Eurosky (privacy-first, in Europe) is the default, with Bluesky or your own address a tap away. It's your account — you can move it later and take everything with you. • Recent searches, synced across your devices. They filter as you type, and you can remove single entries or clear them all. • Uploads that keep going. Posts now upload through a queue you can cancel, resume and delete, with a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Posts shared from other apps survive the share sheet closing mid-upload. • Group messages. Create groups, invite people, handle join requests, react to messages and reply to a specific one. Direct messages were rebuilt from scratch and now send instantly. • Subtitles on video. A CC button appears on any video that has captions. • Stories: the tray shows everyone again, instead of stopping after 20 accounts. FIXED • Opening comments on a busy post could crash the app, and long threads could freeze it. Both are fixed. • Adding alt text to a photo could crash the app. • Fixed a crash on launch on iOS 18. • Much faster start. • Likes no longer flicker back or get sent twice. • Fixed being signed out with "session expired" after a brief network hiccup. • After switching accounts, notifications and stories no longer show the previous account's.

More photos per post • Share up to 20 photos per post. • Sharper photos — we've roughly doubled the upload quality ceiling, so your shots keep far more detail. • Performance improvements and bug fixes.

Discover photos by gear and hashtag — automatically. The new Feeds tab in Search gives you a live, auto-generated photo feed for every hashtag, camera, lens, and ISO in the community. Curious what people are shooting on a Fuji X100V right now? Want every #mountain photo from this week? It's one tap. Feeds tie the whole app together: • Camera Data on every photo. Tap a camera, lens, or ISO chip under any post to jump straight into a feed of more photos shot with the same gear. • Hashtag suggestions in the composer. Start typing # and pick from the popular tags so your photos show up where people are already looking. • What's New screen. From now on you'll see a short summary like this one inside Flashes whenever we ship something worth shouting about. More improvements: • Higher-resolution uploads — image size limit raised to 2 MB. • A new "Photography" feed by @gabriellanonino.com in Featured. • Handle autocomplete on the login screen. • A toggle to hide camera-data chips if you'd rather not see them. • Redesigned Search view. A stack of fixes too: image downloads work again, custom-domain logins work, very long threads no longer crash, videos stop stuttering when you scroll, and Stories load and update faster.
