Today my friendas and I went to the Vogue Australia talk at the Sydney Opera House. We left feeling soooo inspired. Then a Galentine’s lunch with my bestie and the Ed Sheeran concert with my husband. An absolute celebration of female friendship and Frienda’s birthday. Behind the scenes: My co founder is also my life partner, so people often ask how we balance work, our relationship, and being parents. There are no secrets. For this update, we worked until early morning. When I woke up at 7 AM for a meeting, Dima was just going to bed. By the time I was ready to leave, he was already up again to take our daughter to school. We don’t really balance. We build. Happy Galentine’s Day! Double the Joy: Frienda turns 1! One year ago, we launched Frienda to help every woman find a friend. Today, our community is almost 50,000 strong! Thank you for being part of Frienda and celebrating female friendship with us.

We could have taken Saturday off. But we decided to update the app and polish the screenshots instead.

This allows you to find friends not only within your city, but also inside your own communities. This option will become available to everyone in upcoming updates. Once we said Frienda would help girls find female friends to go to an Imagine Dragons concert together… AND IT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENED! Yesterday we received a message on Threads from @irochka.lee.libros: «After a few years in a new country, I found a friend on Frienda. And this autumn we finally went to an Imagine Dragons concert together». You can imagine our excitement! What’s new • Added a registration step to confirm your location. If it’s incorrect, you can fix it right away • Improved HEIC support, fewer upload errors • Increased photo upload quality • Improved uploading for small images under 1 MB • Updated the registration design with larger text and clearer descriptions • Fixed a bug with unread messages What we’re working on • We’re preparing a biiiiig update to Frienda’s matching logic. I started reading it recently, and this thought really stayed with me. Already excited. We’re planning to keep working through December with no extra days off. More updates coming soon!

We’ve added a new feature — Change Location. Now you can set your city manually if it was detected wrong because of VPN or GPS. The app also loads much faster now. Team news: Our support manager Dariga just turned 25 and went on a “half-vacation”. She’s skipping our daily calls but still answers every support message. Official statement: Dariga, we miss you and can’t wait to have you back. Now the whole Frienda team can see your support requests right on their phones. Say hi if you’re reading this. Fun fact: even the founder struggled to use Frienda for a year. Now it finally works perfectly. For almost a year, Frienda’s founder Malika couldn’t properly use the app. She had over 600 friendas (all early users), and it took minutes to load each time. We finally fixed it! The feed and friendas list now open much faster for everyone. A few days ago, we also celebrated one year since the very first Frienda prototype. Back then, we had fewer than 100 girls. Today, there are almost 40,000. Feeling grateful and inspired to keep building.
