The Weather Recap — Past Weather, Clearly Explained
Most weather apps focus on what might happen. The Weather Recap helps you understand what actually happened yesterday and over time, and how forecasts compared to reality. The app combines past weather, recent conditions, and forecast performance into clear charts, tables, and summaries so you can put today’s forecast into context.
The Overview section:
Shows a rolling view of the past seven completed days alongside today and the next seven forecasted days. Actual conditions and predictions are clearly labeled, making it easy to review recent weather patterns at a glance. Daily charts and tables cover temperature highs and lows, wind, precipitation, and snow.
Each location also includes a daily synopsis that explains how yesterday compared to recent days, such as whether it was warmer, cooler, windier, wetter, or snowier than usual. You can flip through recent days to explore how conditions have changed over the past week.
The Accuracy section:
Compares past forecasts to actual outcomes for recent completed days. You can review forecast performance for temperature, wind, precipitation, and snow, and compare how forecasts performed when issued 24, 72, or 120 hours in advance. Only fully completed days are included so results remain meaningful.
Each location receives a daily Accuracy Score from 0 to 100 based on recent temperature and wind performance. Scores update once per day after the previous day’s weather is complete, providing a simple signal of recent forecast reliability.
Weather Recap uses data from Open-Meteo, a global, privacy-focused weather platform. Forecasts are snapshot daily so accuracy comparisons remain consistent and transparent over time.
No accounts are required. Locations are stored on-device, and no personal data is sold or shared. The app is designed to be lightweight, fast, and easy to understand.
This update improves accuracy, clarity, and overall polish. Accuracy charts now render correctly across all metrics, and overview charts better distinguish past actuals from future forecasts. The daily synopsis has been expanded to provide clearer context for recent weather, and issues where yesterday’s conditions failed to load immediately have been resolved, including several timing and timezone edge cases.
Charts have been moved to the forefront of each section to improve readability and navigation. The landing page has also been refined to better highlight how to add new locations and to ensure yesterday’s actual metrics load correctly when a new place is added. This release introduces a new in-app option to support the app by removing ads, along with a gentle prompt to rate the app.
