Evaporative Cooler Forecaster

Know when the cooler works!

Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Get the forecast for your swamp cooler's effectiveness. Find out when you can run your evaporative cooler, based on the favorable weather conditions in your forecast. If you live in a dry, arid climate and use a whole-house evaporative cooler to keep cool, it can be hard to know when it'll actually work! Sometimes it's fine in the morning, but too humid or hot indoors later in the evening when you'll need to run the A/C. Using your outdoor weather forecast, this app gives your indoor cooler forecast! You'll get: * An easy-to-read dashboard, showing the indoor temperature and indoor humidity that your cooler would produce, right now. * Your forecast for the hours and days ahead, to know when and how long you can use Cooling mode! Or when you could switch to Fan mode for extra ventilation. Most importantly, it shows when the weather won't be cooperative, so you can switch back to A/C before it gets too sticky or hot indoors. * Your cost($) and energy(kWh) savings estimates from using a swamp cooler vs air conditioning. * Your historical weather summarized as annual reports of how effective evaporative cooling was, in terms of hours of A/C reduced, kWh saved, and dollars unspent. * Customizable settings so you can pick your own temperature comfort zone, humidity tolerance, local energy rates, A/C sizing and efficiency values, and more. Best of all, when you customize your settings, your forecast of mode changes is also updated, and you can see the effects on energy and cost savings. * Pick your specific "Pad Cooling Power" setting to match your pad's performance, for any pad type: Aspen, DuraCool mesh, Honeycomb, CellDek, etc. For fun, you can explore the cooler forecasts from other sites around the world, in the Explore tab. You can see their weather and savings data to help contrast it with your own. If you don't have a swamp cooler, you can instead use the app to judge when to run a box fan in your windows, using your personal Fan Mode comfort zone settings. Take the mystery out of running your evaporative cooler with a personalized forecast that tells you what it will feel like indoors and how to save the most with your cooler.

This is a maintenance release, with updated dependencies. And a minor bugfix to the animated emoji on the Explore tab: tap once to cycle emojis or double-tap to toggle repeating the animation.
