I am writing this review because for the first time I have found an app that delivers on its promises. I have worked with several step and fitness apps and they have all left me wanting. STEPS is everything you need to motivate yourself to get with the program. One huge benefit is that the counter is accurate. It mirrors your Apple Health app beautifully. The information it provides is easy to navigate and very rewarding. They even go so far as to make it fun!! There are also added features like an AI that will break down how well you did on your exercise and a new 3D map that shows the route you followed. There is an option for a monthly subscription but it is so worth it to pay for the ONE TIME lifetime subscription. There are no ads, no hassles, no issues. I am not a developer or an influencer. I am just an old guy who found quality amongst a sea of junk. I am writing this because it is worth it.
Developer Response
Thank you so much for your incredible review and support! It means a lot to hear that Steps has been such a positive experience for you. I’m glad you’re enjoying the Apple Health integration, AI insights, and 3D route maps. I’ll keep working hard to make the app even better. Thanks again for being part of the Steps community!
Exactly what I was looking for
eric_geee
This does everything I wanted without unnecessary bloat, all the while having an amazing UX/UI that fits into Apple’s design system while still being unique.
Developer Response
This made my day, thank you. 'Everything you wanted without the bloat' is exactly what I'm going for, and I'm really glad the design clicked for you. More to come.
Does one thing and it does it GREAT
Leavism
Love everything about this app. The stuff I want is front and center, no fancy extraneous stuff shoved in my face.
Developer Response
This is the best kind of review to get, thank you. Keeping the stuff you care about front and center, with no clutter, is exactly the bar I'm holding the app to. Really appreciate you taking the time.
Dad loves it
DavidLoggins
My dads recovering from a year of severe illness and he’s excited to use this and get back to it!
Developer Response
This means a lot. Wishing your dad a smooth recovery and a strong return. Glad the app can help him ease back in and stay motivated step by step.
Natural Language Search
Type a phrase on the Activity screen and Steps turns it into filters, so last month's long runs or yesterday's yoga are a sentence away.
Workout Effort
Rate how hard a workout felt on a 1-10 scale, saved to Apple Health. Comparison now includes effort against recent workouts of the same type.
Heart Rate Zones
The heart rate chart now colors itself by your zones from Apple Health, and a live watch workout shows those zones as you go.
Workout Calendar Widget
A new home-screen widget marks each trained day with that day's activity, in medium, large and extra large.
Coach in Workout Chat
The coach assessment now opens in the chat, where you can copy a reply, add the next workout to Reminders, and get answers in tables drawn from your history.
Siri and Spotlight
Siri can open a workout or a Stepboard, search your workouts, and act on the one currently on screen. Workouts and Stepboards also surface in Spotlight, and Siri can send the card you are looking at to Messages, Notes or any app that takes a photo.
Unfolded on iPhone Duo
Open iPhone Duo and Home becomes a dashboard with larger insights beside a History calendar that can pick a week or a month. In Activity, each month keeps a sticky summary of trained days and totals while the cards scroll, and a workout opens with stats on the leading edge so the map can take the rest of the inner display. Layouts adapt across Home, Activities, Insights, workout detail and tracking.
Other Improvements
- Humor slider for generated notification copy
- Landscape Dynamic Island and StandBy for an active workout on iOS 27
- Circular watch complication for Steps & Distance, with theme colors restored
- Bug fixes and performance improvements
