1.2.2 Jul 15
What’s New
* Added support for importing and editing external RAW photos. Most RAW files captured with your iPhone or digital cameras from major brands can now be opened using either the standard Photo Editor or the RAW Editor.
* Halation is now fully adjustable! When using the 50D, 800T, or 800TII film stocks, you can now fine-tune Intensity, Size, Softness, Threshold, and Exclusion. We’ve also reduced excessive halation in daylight scenes.
* The Filter Sheet feature now supports custom colors. Pick any color with the color picker and apply it in either Color Correction or Tint mode for greater creative control.
* Added support for the Camera Control button on iPhone 16 Pro and newer models for shooting and zooming. (Quick Launch from the Lock Screen is not supported yet.)
* DNX Camera now offers Film and Balanced exposure modes before shooting, and you can switch between them again when re-editing.
* Added the new KD-03 color profile to DNX Camera, inspired by Kodak 5203 motion picture film.
* Photos imported from other cameras now preserve their original EXIF metadata.
* Added an option to horizontally mirror photos captured with the front camera.
Improvements & Fixes
* Enhanced the fisheye distortion effect in the Fisheye camera.
* Fixed incorrect focal length calculations on single-camera devices such as iPhone Air.
* Fixed an issue where swiping between filters could occasionally switch to an item outside the filter list.
* Fixed inconsistencies in SX70 effects between captured photos and imported photos.
* Improved cache handling when switching SX70 light leak textures.
* Fixed UI compatibility issues when using the Light theme.
* Fixed synchronization issues when switching to Crop Frame Zoom while already zoomed.
1.2.1 Jul 7
* Added the new SX70 instant camera, supporting both “Manual” and “Random” modes for applying over ten film border styles. Includes 5 dedicated color presets, 1 black-and-white preset, 5 handwritten-style location/date overlays, and over ten chemical leakage defect simulations. Combined with the filter sheet feature in the editor, color cast effects can be further reproduced for a more authentic instant film look;
* The ASC camera has been upgraded. It now supports saving a Live Photo alongside captures, and also supports importing Live Photos to restore four-frame film simulations into animated sequences when exporting, bringing still memories to life;
* Updated the UI of the camera and filter selector panels. Options such as light leaks, borders, and flash color filters are now displayed in a compact summary style and can be expanded for detailed adjustments;
* Light leak, border, and flash color filter settings can now be configured and saved independently for different cameras;
* Fixed an issue where date watermarks could disappear when pasting parameters in the editor;
* Adjusted the image processing and display logic in the RAW editor, with improved support for lower-memory devices;
* Fixed an issue where the UI focal length value did not update correctly after manually switching focal lengths;
* Fixed a crash that could occur when switching to the telephoto lens after shooting with the IOC camera;
* Fixed a possible background crash when switching to other apps after capturing photos;
* Fixed thread-related startup crashes affecting certain devices;
1.2.0 May 27
• Added members-only DNX Camera and RAW Editor. Captures in Apple ProRAW format to preserve maximum image quality, full dynamic range, and color information. With a “digital negative” workflow, you can re-enter the editor from the in-app gallery after shooting and fine-tune over a dozen parameters including color profiles, exposure, highlights, shadows, contrast, white balance, tint, saturation, film grain, vignette, curves, HSL, and channels—enabling professional-grade post-processing. Note: Available only on iPhone 12 Pro and later Pro models.
• Improved rendering for the standard camera and imported photos, including low-light performance, bokeh simulation, and vignette effects.
• Added a new color calibration mode to the “Filter” feature in the image editor.
• Introduced digital zoom via the crop frame, with updated zoom logic. Each physical lens now supports zooming only within its recommended range to ensure optimal image quality.
• Added a new font option for date watermark, available when editing imported images.
• Fixed white balance calibration issues and a brief display glitch when reopening after custom white balance adjustments.
• Fixed an issue where highlights could appear abnormal in certain LOMO camera scenarios.
1.1.2 Apr 22
We sincerely apologize for the issues affecting the new camera feature in version 1.1.0. Our team is actively working on an urgent fix.
In the meantime, please update to this rollback version to continue using the app normally. A new version with enhanced RAW editing capabilities will be released soon after more thorough testing.
1.1.1 Apr 16
- Added a members-only DNX Camera and RAW editor. It captures images in Apple ProRAW format, preserving maximum image quality, full dynamic range, and rich color information. With a “digital negative” workflow, you can re-enter the editor from the in-app gallery after shooting. Supports 13 professional adjustments including color profiles, exposure, highlights, shadows, contrast, temperature, tint, saturation, film grain, vignette, curves, HSL, and channel controls. Note: Available only on iPhone 12 Pro and later.
- Improved rendering for the standard camera and imported images, including low-light performance, bokeh simulation, and vignette effects.
- Added a new color calibration mode to the “Filter” feature in the image editor.
- Updated digital zoom logic. Each physical lens now supports zoom only within its recommended range to ensure optimal image quality.
- Enhanced vignette effect for more realistic results, with adjustable intensity, radius, and feathering in the RAW editor.
- Fixed white balance calibration issues.
- Added a new date watermark font option.
1.1.0 Apr 16
- Added the IOC Half-Frame Camera (Inside/Outside Camera), inspired by the Konica Recorder half-frame camera.
It introduces a deliberately “non-existent” function: recording both the world in front of the lens and the photographer at the same time.
The image is no longer just something to be viewed, but a trace of an act — preserving not only the event, but also the one who recorded it.
The IOC camera can also be set to single-lens mode, allowing precise control over each half-frame, just like a real camera.
- Added CineStill 800T Version II, simulating a corrected CineStill 800T film scan.
This version reduces the blue-green color shift in daylight and mixed lighting conditions, while preserving the cinematic character of night scenes, offering more stable color balance and improved skin tones.
- Added support for favoriting photos within the in-app gallery.
You can now filter photos marked as favorites, and when choosing to clear local storage from Settings, favorited images will be protected from deletion.
- You can now choose whether to apply borders at capture time.
Photos can be taken directly with borders, instead of applying them only during image import and editing.
- Added per-camera aspect ratio memory.
For example, when using the TOY (Holga-style) camera, you can set a default 1:1 shooting ratio without affecting other cameras.
The SSC camera and IOC camera will continue to use a fixed 3:2 format, consistent with the 135 film frame.
- Improved the level indicator, with refined behavior and a new state for when the device is laid completely flat.
- Other subtle improvements and refinements.
1.05 Jan 29
- Added film frame feature that automatically applies adaptive film borders to images of different aspect ratios, available when editing imported photos;
- Fixed an issue where the camera viewfinder lost focus information after returning from background;
- Adjusted the application process for light flare effects;
- Improved the distinction between multi-select interactions when using import mode for double exposure versus accessing the system photo library normally;
- Fixed UI layout issues when device accessibility features (button borders) are enabled;
- System Requirements
To ensure stable performance and consistent image quality, PlatoCam requires a newer version of iOS.
Modern iOS versions provide improved image processing capabilities and performance optimizations, helping prevent crashes or unexpected behavior on older devices.
If your device cannot be updated, you can continue using the previously installed version without interruption.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
