Brand-new app: 50% launch discount for a limited time only!
You probably have files, documents, folders, or websites you open again and again — or that are buried deep inside your Mac’s folders. With DockThings, you can reach them faster than ever before. Simply drop your most-used items onto a tile in DockThings, and open them instantly with a single click.
Customize your docks any way you like: assign names, choose colors, or pin tiles permanently. You can even launch websites right from DockThings — no need to open your browser first. DockThings is intentionally simple, designed to do one thing brilliantly: give you instant access to your most important content. Create as many docks as you like — for example, grouped by topic or media type — and keep your most frequently used files perfectly organized.
Using more than one display? Docks can be assigned to specific screens and snapped to any edge you prefer. You have full control over where your docks appear. For extra clarity, highlight tiles with colors, add custom labels, or use Quick Look to glance at file contents without opening them.
DockThings also offers a wide range of beautifully crafted templates for your docks. Choose from different layouts, styles, and visual themes to find the design that best matches your workflow — whether you prefer something compact and minimal or bold and structured. From a modern glassy look and subtle transparency to high-contrast styles, DockThings offers templates for every preference.
…and already so many improvements since launch!
DockThings 1.1 is bringing so many improvements and new features that it’s hard to list them all in detail. A big thank you to all users who shared their ideas with us – many of those suggestions have already made their way into the app! A few examples: View folder contents right in DockThings, add rows and columns more quickly, enjoy greater freedom in customizing your docks, use faster keyboard navigation or rely on scroll wheel and trackpad gestures.

Great App - Could Use Some Improvement

This app has been great for the most part, with a few caveats/frustrations/Suggestions for improvement.1. This was my main frustration, any app that is set to have a dark mode icon gets changed to the light mode version when put into the dock, and the change icon setting only allows PNG images for icons if you want to change them. So I had to export PNG’s from all the dark mode Apple native apps to PNG’s just to get the icon in the dock to change to the dark mode version.2. It would be great to be able to have the dock duplicated on multiple screens.3. It would be nice to be able to group apps by type on a tab like in my folders with a line dividing them, like I could put a group of utilities apps and creative apps on the same tab, but separated by a line with the name of the group.4. I don’t like the hover to open settings when the dock is not floating, the hover isn’t very reliable, and if you accidentally click it opens whatever app you land on because the cursor doesn’t follow the tab while it opens, it would be nice to have a setting that lets you click on the tab you want to open, then have the cursor follow that tab, then move the cursor to select the app. Small things, but still improvements that would be easy and really improve the functionality of the app.
Great app

I have been looking for something in the space for quite a while. DockThings is almost perfect. The only flaw at the moment is that you can’t pin the dock to a space. After reboot, it always appears on the first space and must be moved manually if running at logon.

Since the DragThing guy abandoned us I have bought several lauchers, tried many more, both free and paid, and none have come as close as DockThings. A couple were contenders, even doing a thing or two better than DockThings (relating to networked shares). The developers are addressing this and I have all hope that they will improve. Based on what it does do I have no problem giving DockThings 5 stars.A couple features special to DockThings:1) Until DockThings, in every app I’ve tried that offers tabs (including DragThing back in the day), I’ve avoided using them because going from tab to tab was a pain as it required too much precision in my mousing (a keyboarder I am not). I can swipe on my trackpad in DockThings. HUGE difference in usage.2) No other app does weblinks like DockThings - puts a perfect icon (uses a favicon?) into its dock, options to have a site open in different popup sizes (with a button to open the site if then needed/wanted), or to simply have a site opened in your browser. So, upon its initial release, one heckuva piece of mature software from a proven team of developers. Options galore! Easy on Memory. Support is as good as it gets - prompt and thorough.
Great App, Great support

I love this app. It is so easy to use and so simple to access. Provides me with an easy way to find folders and articles I want to access. It provides a variety of ways to highlight and access them via tabs and color/font/icon options. AND support is great. I have visual difficulties and the color of the apps manual was nearly impossible for me to read. I e-mailed them (Oliver Klunk) and explained the problem and he sent me a copy of the manual in a black and gray format which is just great. I regard that as above and beyond, so thank you Oliver!!
- Sorting in Folder Menus improved
- Issue displaying placeholder icons in Folder Menus fixed
