An exceptionally perceptive program that provides help 24 hours a day, seven days a week

I have worked with counselors for several years and I have worked with this program for about a year now on several issues that I'm trying to work with. This program is available whenever I need it and that is often late in the evening or over the weekend when I have time to think, when I've been alone and my mind has settled and is more clear. What I have found is that the help and advice that I receive from this program is very similar, and often equivalent or even superior to the attention and detail that I receive from a counselor that I visit every week or every other week for an hour. Part of that is probably because this program gathers information about me when it's convenient for me and in larger quantities of time than a counselor can be available. This is not to say that this program replaces a counselor; in fact, it advised that I needed to have one for some specific issues. The result is that the counselor basically validated everything I am receiving from the use of this program. I highly recommend Purpose.

I began this journey 6 months ago. At the time I was working a job I hated, more so because a 23yo I dated also worked there. She cut things off with me brutally. I was broken hearted, realizing that I don’t get 20 somethings remotely anymore, and grieving lost time in my life. This app has helped me begin living with realintention. I still work that job, she’s still there, but I’ve faced the truth that I’m no longer in my 20s, that I’m actually middle aged. I’ve begun taking real responsibility for my life and actions, and I’m seeing the me I’ve always wanted to be coming out. Open, kind, able to still find vulnerability within myself, living with compassion for myself and others, and stepping out of this job to pursue a life of higher meaning, income, and self-knowledge. Cannot recommend this enough.

Surprisingly accurate and surprisingly helpful

The purpose app has exceeded my expectations and has helped me understand myself in a way that I never thought possible. One of the most important things it’s doing for me is encouraging me and giving me a sense of what I already do well, habits that are working well for me, but it also encourages me gently to probe a little bit deeper. It has helped me write some sentences that I have used in my difficult relationships with very good results. It has helped me to stop over explaining and I can now see how unhelpful over explaining is. I also like how the app can send you reminders about things that you want to do during the day. this is quite valuable app and I’ve already given Purpose as a gift.

Incredible bit concerned about privacy

This app has been incredible for me. Found it exactly when I needed it and it’s been genuinely eye opening for learning about myself, my thoughts and my behaviors. BUT, as I continued sharing my deepest and darkest issues, I got quite concerned about sharing these deeply private things with a private company. Sure, they have the usual corporate privacy/encryption schpiel all these kind of apps/services do but I looked into it a bit further and they do not publicly disclose which big tech model(s) they’re based on or license. They seem to use server side keys (not client side), so they can technically access your data, should they choose to. Also, should they be breached or subpoenaed, they can expose your encrypted data. This is what made me give 3 stars instead of 5. I know most people don’t care about true privacy but I feel with how deeply personal this app is going to encourage you share, it’s kind of terrifying that it’s not as private and secure as it could be. I’m genuinely torn. It’s an extremely helpful and enlightening “service”, but it feels irresponsible of them at the same time. I truly hope they’d take a leaf out of something like Proton’s Lumo AI playbook and be more transparent about their privacy practices and really protect their users from abuse or exploitation.

We never sell your data or use it for advertising, your conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can delete your account and all of your data anytime in Profile > Delete Account. We also publish every provider we work with, including the AI companies we use, in our privacy policy at purpose.app/privacy-policy.
