more I have ADHD and have tried a gazillion email apps and AI integrations. Mainly toggled between Gmail, Spark, TwoBird, and Canary. Like Canary due to privacy/HIPAA compliance but find it buggy and outdated design-wise. This Dove app, however: for me, it’s the Goldilocks. Really, really good at surfacing what’s necessary in a nonintrusive way with beautiful design that keeps follow-ups in a combined section at the top. Nudges, but not annoyingly so. I actually, finally, don’t dread email (this has been a decades-long search). I’m picky af and kind of obsessive (honestly spend more time looking for the perfect systems than actually doing things, ha) P.S. — like that it doesn’t charge a fee per email account; all of my accounts for $20/month seems worth it just to not keep missing emails).

What solidified the choice to use Dove was the ability to connect regular IMAP email accounts. Unlike many competitors, Dove is not limited to Google/Outlook. This allows me to have one unified system to cover my personal Gmails and my work email only accessible via IMAP. The support team via Slack is highly responsive. Give them a solid try. Even in their early releases the app has been highly stable and intuitive. Their more mature app with a slightly less AI-First design called Canary Mail is equally as powerful if you are looking for a more traditional email client.

I really wanted to like this app, particularly since it seems to have been built from the ground up around AI as opposed to Spark Mail, which is integrating AI after the fact into an existing email foundation. Unfortunately syncing is not very well done with the app and the AI portion, while helpful, is also a bit fussy and inconsistent. I will check back in a year to see if they've improved things but if you're going to charge $20 a month for a subscription, your product had better be amazing.

1.20.0 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Send Later: Schedule any email to go out when you want. Click the arrow beside Send and pick Later today, Tomorrow morning, Monday morning, a custom time, or when the person usually replies — or just tell Help me write "send this tomorrow at 9 AM". It sends from our servers at that time, even with Dove closed, and everything waiting sits in a new Scheduled folder. Ask Dove can schedule, reschedule or cancel for you. Send Later is part of Dove Pro.
- Wingman Brief: Turn a Wingman report into a one-page brief for someone else. Dove writes it for a reader who may know nothing about the thread — the key points and a recommended action — and you can edit any line or ask Dove to change it. Share it by email, as a PDF or as an image; every brief carries your invite, so they get 30 days of Dove Pro and you get a month when they join. Dove writes the first three for your Focus emails automatically; after that, tap Prepare brief.
- Swipe Actions: Swipe an email with two fingers on your trackpad — or click and drag with a mouse — to mark it Done, Archive, Delete and more. In Settings, choose what each swipe does from Done, Archive, Delete, Spam, Mark as read/unread, Star or nothing. A full swipe runs the action, a short one opens the buttons, and your choices follow you to your other devices.
We've also made search more dependable — results no longer vanish and quoted phrases match as phrases — let you drag sidebar folders and Areas into the order you like, and fixed a few bugs around, including one that could reset Dove's local data on launch for some Microsoft accounts.
As always, we'd love to hear what you think.

1.19.2 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Calendar: See your week, and make time in it, without leaving your mail. Connect your Gmail or Outlook calendar, then just say it — "Coffee with Sam tomorrow 3pm" — and it's scheduled. Browse by Day, 3 Days or Schedule, answer invitations right from a mail or Today, and get reminders even when Dove is closed. Ask Dove can check your day, find free time, and add, move or cancel events once you approve.
- Areas, in Your Own Words: Describe the mail that belongs in an Area in a sentence, and Dove turns it into rules you can edit — a sender, a domain, a subject, or matching by meaning — and shows exactly which mail would move. Nothing moves until you save, Ask Dove asks before it changes your Areas, and if you've moved a mail yourself, Let Dove decide hands it back.
- Faster Selecting: On iPhone, drag two fingers down your list to select a run of emails, or tap All to select everything. Archive all for Noise is now on iPhone and iPad too.
We've also added a Start week on setting for the calendar, made notifications show Dove's headline when a summary is too long to fit, let iPad email text follow your system text size, and opened Ask Dove suggestion details in a bottom sheet on iPhone search. New Gmail and Outlook accounts now offer calendar access along with mail — decline it and the account is still added. A few bugs are fixed too: long iPhone drafts no longer get cut off, sharing to Dove no longer flickers, replies to your own alias keep it as the From address, and onboarding recovers when the connection drops.

1.18.0 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Open on Launch: Choose the screen Dove opens to on iPhone — Smart Inbox, Today, or Last used, which picks up wherever you left off, whether that was Today, the Smart Inbox or any folder. Find it in Settings → Preferences, or just ask Dove to change it for you.
- Ask Dove Suggestions, in Your Language: Suggestions now come in the language you use Dove in, and refresh straight away when you switch. On iPad, the card showing the emails behind a suggestion opens and closes more smoothly.
We've also renamed Inbox to Smart Inbox and fixed a handful of bugs: a tap in a long reply no longer jumps you back to the top, mailto links keep their recipient, blank emails stay out when a connection drops mid-sync, and iPad's keyboard, popout compose and force-quit are steadier.

1.17.0 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Ask Dove Suggestions: The Ask Dove bar on Today now surfaces suggestions built from your own mailbox — upcoming meetings to prep for, or which of your undated to-dos to tackle first. Tap one to fill the prompt, or tap again to see the emails it's based on. You'll also find these suggestions on the search screen, under Search and Ask AI.
- Focus / Feed Are Back: Inbox is organised into Focus, Feed, Noise and Done again, with All emails now sitting above Sent in the sidebar.
- Smart Inbox From the Dock: The dock's inbox icon is a direct toggle again — tap to jump to Smart Inbox, tap again to return to where you were.
We've also made account changes on another device sync in faster, made switching threads smoother in the email viewer, and fixed a few bugs around.

1.16.0 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Referrals: Invite a friend and you both get a free month of Dove Pro — they get theirs the moment they sign up, you get yours once they set up their inbox.
- Teach Dove: Tap and hold any email to correct where Dove filed it. Corrections become rules you can review under Settings → Teach Dove.
- Gmail Signature Sync: Your Gmail signatures now show up automatically in the Signatures list, refreshed each time you open Dove.
- Read Receipts: A new Preferences toggle lets you see when people open the emails you send.
- Open the Next Mail After an Action: Archiving, deleting, or marking an email done now takes you straight to the next message instead of leaving you on an empty pane.
We've also added an HTML editor for signatures and a clear-formatting button in compose, and fixed pasted images being dropped on send, keyboard shortcuts not firing while hovering a message, event times showing in the wrong timezone, and scrolling getting stuck after zooming an email.

1.15.0 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Multi-Select in Today: Select several tasks and clear, dismiss, or mark them done in one action instead of one at a time - a single undo covers the batch.
- Ask Dove: Can now mark emails as done or undone, just like the app's own Done button.
- Search: Now finds archived, done, and filed mail, not just what's still in the list.
- Language: Dove is now available in Polish.
We've also made Today's badge agree across accounts for the same email, and fixed inline images breaking on forwarded emails.

1.14.1 just dropped. Here's what's inside:
- Areas: Today now organizes around your own Areas, which double as Inbox filters and sync across your devices.
- Inbox: Inbox is now the home for all your accounts, and unclassified mail shows up there so nothing stays hidden.
- Email List: Messages now carry a tag — Needs you, Schedule, FYI, Waiting on, Following or Done — with suspicious mail called out first.
- Dove Pro: Added a yearly plan on a redesigned Get Pro screen, with in-place upgrade from monthly.
- Contacts: Tap any address in a message header to copy it, add it to contacts, or open its contact card.
- Onboarding: Dove now recognizes an existing Dove Account and offers to resume instead of starting over.
- Navigation: Tap the status bar to jump the email list back to the top.
- Links: Dove links now open in the app instead of bouncing out to Safari.
- Email Viewer: Long emails are no longer cut off.
We've also fixed a Compose crash and a threading bug, stopped font color from stripping other formatting, kept Ask Dove edits on the same draft instead of duplicating it, made search work from Today, steadied the mail list in small folders, added an alert with recovery options if the local database is damaged, and improved reconnects after a dropped connection.
