Generate unlimited rhythm exercises, master odd time signatures and polymeters, and develop your timing, groove and improvisation. Supercharge Your Rhythm Skills and Build Your Rhythmic Vocabulary with Metric Flow! Practice improvising, develop rhythmic accuracy, build your rhythmic vocabulary and become inspired with an endless supply of rhythms, whilst working on your phrasing and rhythmic control. Generate Endless Rhythms with Ease Metric Flow automatically creates one-bar rhythm patterns in your chosen time signature, providing a versatile improvisation practice tool for developing your rhythmic vocabulary and control. The app supports many common, odd, and complex time signatures, including polymetric overlays such as 7/8 or 5/16 over 4/4, helping you master phrasing across the barline and expand your modern rhythmic vocabulary. Simply tap the ‘Generate Rhythm’ button for a new pattern, then press ‘Play’ to listen at your selected tempo. Adjust the speed using the tempo slider or tap tempo feature, ranging from 40 to 200 BPM. Visual Rhythm Representation with Standard Notation or Timeline Views Metric Flow shows your randomly generated rhythms using beautifully rendered, animated standard musical notation. Practice your rhythm sight reading at the same time as developing your rhythmic vocabulary! Alternatively, the intuitive ‘Timeline View’ employs animated dots to visually depict your rhythms based on 16th note and triplet subdivisions. This visual approach eliminates the need for reading traditional notation; downbeats are clearly marked for each time signature and update in real time, even with complex polyrhythms or tied notes extending over bar lines. This makes understanding note and rest durations straightforward and accessible, fostering ear training and internalization of rhythmic patterns without prior music theory knowledge. Rhythmic Customization Options Metric Flow offers sophisticated customization features that allow you to refine the randomly generated rhythms. These options provide greater control and flexibility, enabling you to tailor rhythms to suit your practice level and compositional needs. Creative Rhythm Variations & Audio Export You can tap directly on the rhythm visualization to cycle the rhythm elements around through the bar, giving you many variations of a single loop. Alternatively, tap the arrow icon above the rhythm to shift the whole rhythm forwards by one 16th note, exploring every permutation of that rhythm throughout the bar and create phrases that cross over the barline. Once you find a rhythm you like, tap the heart icon to save it to your favorites, or export a single, perfect cycle as a WAV or AAC file. These exported loops can be shared or stored on your device, complete with tempo information for seamless synchronization in your DAW with backing tracks, drum patterns or even in your compositions. You could even combine multiple, single exported loops in different time signatures to create complex rhythms that cross over the barline and expand your creativity in any genre. Enhanced Practice Features Metric Flow enhances your practice sessions with a built-in drone synthesizer pad for harmonic support and an optional 16th note swing to add groove and feel to your rhythms. Save your favourite rhythms to practice with later or use them as inspiration for writing melodies, riffs and songs. These features help develop your timing, feel, and musicality in an engaging and effective manner. Designed by world-renowned guitarist Tom Quayle – co-creator of best-selling music app 'Solo - Fretboard Visualization'. Works on iOS, iPadOS and MacOS.
