5.2.2 Introduces some addition Smart Tags and some small UX improvements.

Version 5.2.1 is a polish and bug-fix patch. The favorites heart in the app header now switches between a solid heart when you have saved offers and an outline heart when you have none, replacing the previous numeric badge. Favoriting and unfavoriting an offer is now a single tap — the confirmation dialog has been removed. Favorite state stays in sync in real time across all screens, including search results, potential matches, and group feeds, using a live database listener instead of a one-time fetch that could show stale data. On the Barter Mat, the Sweeten the Deal cookie icon has moved into the action icon row between the chat and accept buttons, and the circle icons have been removed from the MY OFFER / YOU GIVE TO / GIVES TO YOU card labels. The FAQ images on the support page were not loading on the production website due to a missing build step; they are now copied to the correct output folder during every build and display correctly.

This update is one of the most significant releases in the history of This-4-That, combining a personalized discovery experience, a redesigned onboarding flow, smarter offer creation, and meaningful improvements to groups, chat, trading, and overall polish. The Discover feed is now personalized. When a new account finishes setup, an interest picker appears before the home screen loads. It presents all available categories organized by type and lets you select the ones you want to trade for. Those selections immediately influence what appears in Discover. Existing users will see a banner at the top of their feed the first time they open it after updating. Tapping the banner opens the same picker as a full-screen modal. Once saved, the banner disappears and the feed updates. Interests can also be changed at any time from Settings under My Interests. Creating an offer is faster when you know what you want. The What I Want step now shows your saved interests as tappable chips at the top of the type selector. Tapping a chip sets the category and opens a subcategory panel so you can complete the selection in a single tap. The onboarding experience for new users has been rebuilt from the ground up. The previous version used abstract emoji placeholders. The new version uses real photos from actual live listings in a premium editorial design. The first slide shows a card fan of three real listings with arrows illustrating how trade loops work. The second slide uses full-bleed photo panels for Items, Services, and Experiences. A new user understands how the platform works before they have even created an account. Every major screen now has a built-in help system. A help icon is available on the home screen, the barter mat, and the groups pages. Tapping it opens a tutorial that explains exactly what you are looking at and what you can do from that screen. Group pages received a visual overhaul. The group name and action buttons now sit directly on the banner image rather than below it. Member counts and offer counts are now fetched live from the database on every load. Previously these figures were cached and could fall out of sync, sometimes showing incorrect or negative numbers. The trade completion experience was rebuilt. When all participants in a trade accept, a dialog appears offering to take you directly to the rating screen. Push notifications with deep links are sent to all participants so everyone can navigate straight to the completed mat. After a trade completes, any other barter mats containing the same offers are automatically removed so completed offers do not linger on unresolved trades. The Sweeten the Deal form was redesigned to match the weight of the action. It is now a full-screen modal with a dark gradient header showing the name and photo of the person you are sweetening the deal for. Three structured sections guide you through what you are adding, why it is compelling, and optional photos. Web users can now receive push notifications for chat messages. The chat room on web also has a custom dropdown menu for actions that previously required a long-press on mobile. Tapping the name in a chat room header navigates to that user's profile. Offer cards shown inside group feeds now display a type badge, the posting user's name and live star rating, estimated distance, and a value band indicator. Profile pages now show a Friends section so you can see who you are connected with and visit their profiles.

Personalized Discover Feed This-4-That now learns what you're interested in. New users are guided through a quick interest picker after signup — tell us what you trade for and your Discover feed immediately shows relevant offers. Already a member? Tap the personalization banner in Discover or go to Settings → My Interests to set yours anytime. Smarter Offer Creation When adding a "What I Want" item to your offer, your saved interests now appear as quick-tap shortcuts — skip the search and pick a category in one tap.
