Mine, cut, and wear your own diamond! An augmented reality app that takes you from a rough stone in the earth to a dazzling diamond necklace.
"EGK Diamond AR" is a groundbreaking augmented reality application that offers a fascinating, hands-on educational journey from the raw diamond mine to the exquisite finished necklace. This STEM-focused app brings the science and craftsmanship of gemology to life, allowing you to explore the entire process in your own space.
The app's curriculum is broken down into four interactive modules, each with a focus on a different stage of a diamond's lifecycle:
Diamond Mining and Extraction: Discover the geological origins of diamonds and learn the methods used to extract them from the earth. You'll be able to place and interact with a 3D model of a diamond mine, exploring the machinery and techniques involved in bringing these precious stones to the surface.
Cutting and Polishing: This module demystifies the art of gem cutting. You'll work with a virtual rough diamond, understanding the precision and skill required to transform it into a sparkling jewel. The AR experience visually demonstrates how facets are created and polished to maximize a diamond's brilliance and fire.
Jewelry Setting and Design: Learn about the final stage of the journey, where a polished diamond is incorporated into a piece of jewelry. You can observe the detailed process of a diamond being set into a necklace, gaining insight into the different setting styles and the craftsmanship of a jewelry designer.
The Finished Diamond Necklace: In this final module, you can admire your work by viewing and interacting with a beautiful, completed diamond necklace in augmented reality. This serves as a reward and a tangible representation of the entire process you've just learned.
To reinforce learning, each module includes a fun, interactive quiz where you can test your knowledge by tapping on specific parts of the 3D models. "EGK Diamond AR" is perfect for students, aspiring gemologists, and anyone with a curious mind, offering an engaging and educational experience that turns complex topics into a simple and memorable adventure.
