For mechanical watch owners: The timegrapher feature works with all mechanical watches including Rolex, Tissot, Seiko, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Grand Seiko, Tudor, Vacheron Constantin, and all major brands. Supports vintage and modern models, automatic and hand-wound movements. Certain movement types, such as co-axial escapements, may produce unexpected amplitude readings (rate and beat error remain accurate). Timegrapher not compatible with quartz or digital watches.
How the timegrapher works: Hold your mechanical watch near your iPhone's microphone, let the app listen to the ticks of your movement, and get accurate professional results in less than 30 seconds. No technical knowledge required.

more I’ve been waiting for someone to figure this out, I always knew the super computer in my pocket could moonlight as a timeagrapher- I’ve used a few apps over the years that crudely track SPD by manual verification but no amplitude or beat error insights. This has been a huge improvement for me and a ton of fun already, I’ve tested on a few watches and so far stats check out compared to expected performance and spec sheets. The AI and social features are fun and I hope the team continues to refine these areas. I’m a big fan and supporting this work with the subscription model is a no brainer to help keep the product running and community thriving.

This app is by far the beat I have used for tracking my collection. The use of AI to find the watch and generate a beautiful image and background for the collection is really a nice touch. The main feature for me is measuring the watch with the built in timegrapher. It seems to be accurate and a great way to have an overall idea of how to set watches based on how fast/slow they run. My few issues with this app are minor, but would be nice to have. I'd love to have the ability to upload photos instead of just capturing them in the app. The native camera app is infinitely better at photos than the in app one. My second thing is that we should be able to click our watches in the collection view to see all the pictures associated with that watch, the timegrapher measurements, and stats like the most common day for that to be worn. This is a great app that has the potential to add way more features with the price tag it has for the yearly subscription
Developer Response Thank you for the detailed and thoughtful review. We’re really glad to hear that the timegrapher and AI-powered collection features have been useful to you, and we appreciate you taking the time to share specific suggestions for improvement. The ability to upload photos from the camera roll and to dive deeper into each watch’s history, measurements, and usage stats are both areas we’re actively thinking about as we continue to evolve the product. Feedback like yours helps us prioritize what to build next and make tickIQ more valuable over time. Thanks again for being part of the journey and for helping us make the app better. See you around the community!

Don’t listen to the reviews that base the subscription feature. People that only want this for the measurement feature should just buy a timegrapher. Subscriptions prevent ads. The real feature is the amazing community of enthusiasts that interact with one another daily. It’s better than any social media app online. There is decorum and humor but no offensiveness. Pure class. The guys that created the app are active members of the phenomenal community and are always making it better.

Just starting and haven’t decided to pay for the pricey subscription yet. Great design and love the feed from other users and beautiful cataloging feature. Will see if the measurement function works well. Nice that it has a screen to help set the watch but it’s unclear if it’s using the iPhone’s own clock or really pulling live atomic clock time, though probably makes no real world difference. If the author wanted to improve the function of helping us set our watches right it really should include a current moonphase display as well as the next new and full moon dates as some watches have a pusher to push once per day past the last new moon.

This one's been a long time coming.
When we first built tickIQ, it was a timegrapher. Then it became a community. And somewhere along the way, we started asking ourselves a bigger question: what if we could build the best place to discover and learn about watches?
That question led us to build a proprietary watch database from scratch. Every time a new reference is added to tickIQ, it's automatically researched — specs, heritage, pricing, and what it's like to wear. It grows with the community, and it quietly powers everything new in this release.
■ Watch Profiles:
Tap any watch name in the feed and you'll land on its Watch Profile — a dedicated page for that specific reference. Specs, brand heritage, real wrist shots from other owners, similar references worth exploring. The kind of research you'd normally piece together across forums, blogs, and dealer listings, all in one place — from enthusiasts just like you.
■ Grails:
Every collector has a list. The watches you're saving for, reading about, or just quietly obsessing over. We wanted a place to keep that list alive. Tap the bookmark icon on any post in the Community to save that watch as a grail. You'll find all of your grails on the new Grails tab. Your grails also show up on your profile, so you and other members can see what everyone's chasing (always configurable with privacy settings).
■ Your Daily Grail:
This one's personal. Each morning, tickIQ writes a fresh editorial about one of your grail watches, pulling from your collection, your grails, real community wrist shots, and our watch database. We wanted something waiting for you when you open the app each morning. A reason to slow down and spend a minute with a watch you love.
This is the foundation for everything we're building next, and we have a lot planned.
One more thing: we also completely reimagined the Activity Center. We've always been captivated by the artistry of moonphase complications — the way watchmakers turn a simple astronomical function into something you can't stop staring at. We wanted to bring that same feeling to tickIQ. The Activity Center now features a dynamic sky that follows the real time of day in your timezone, from sunrise gradients to golden hour to a star-filled night, topped by an astronomically accurate moon phase. It was a lot of work for something that's technically cosmetic, but we believe the details matter.

This release addresses some of our top user feedback — we’ve added collection organization and search, new and improved AI portrait generation with the ability to create new portraits for your existing watches, and an updated measurement experience.
■ Collection Organization:
Quickly find and organize the watches in your collection. On the first tab, tap the button in the top-left to see your full collection. From there, search for a specific watch by brand or name, or sort your collection in five ways: Date Added, A–Z, Most Worn, Last Measured, or Custom. With Custom ordering, drag and drop your watches into any arrangement you like — put your daily wearers at the top or arrange by complication. Your sort preferences are saved, so each time you open the app your collection is right where you left it.
■ New & Improved Watch Portraits:
We’ve upgraded our portrait generation with greater attention to detail — your watch’s unique features, dial text, and hand colors are now rendered with greater accuracy. And now, you can create entirely new portraits tailored to your vision. On the first tab, scroll to any watch, tap the arrow next to the watch’s name, and tap the edit button on the existing portrait image. Describe the look you’re going for and upload close-up photos of your watch’s details to guide the AI. Try a golden sunset in the background, a fresh powder day on a mountain peak, your dive watch resting on the ocean floor, or anything else you can imagine — we want to see your creativity shine. To switch between portraits, tap the edit button again, tap “Choose Portrait,” and pick from your collection of generated looks. This feature is currently in beta — subscribers get a set number of free generations each month while we continue to refine the experience.
■ Updated Measurement Flow:
We fixed a bug where tickIQ could select the wrong watch during a measurement. Additionally, you’ll now see a thumbnail of the selected watch alongside its name, and a new watch picker makes it easier to find and select the right watch before or after measuring.
