Der Gesundheitstreffpunkt engagiert sich seit seiner Gründung 1981 in vielfältiger Weise im Sozial- und Gesundheitsbereich: Die Kontakt- und Informationsstelle für Selbsthilfe unterstützt das ehrenamtliche Engagement in den derzeit 200 in Mannheim aktiven Selbsthilfegruppen. Bei der Patientenberatung Rhein-Neckar beim Gesundheitstreffpunkt erhalten Patient*innen medizinische Beratung und Beratung zur Patientenverfügung in deutscher und türkischer Sprache. Mit Veranstaltungen (Filmabenden, Selbsthilfetagen, etc.), Projekten und der Herausgabe des Selbsthilfemagazins gesundheitspress informiert der Gesundheitstreffpunkt und gibt Anstöße für die Entwicklung neuer Initiativen.
