The reader and every spoken description now say numbers the way a person would: addresses, phone numbers, ZIP codes, card endings and long tracking numbers all come out clearly.

Thanks to our blind testers for their help. Live detection now speaks calmly, finishes each name, and says the most centered object first. Emojis are no longer read aloud. What's this? can save the photo with its description and take a typed question. Help Me Aim remembers what you found, finds things better, keeps big subjects centered, and squares up pictures and pages shot at an angle.

Say "Hey Siri, what's this in RealTime AI Cam" to open the app right on What's this?. Siri can also open Help Me Aim, Read text, Translate and Object Detection, and they are all in the Shortcuts app, so you can put one on the Action Button. Help Me Aim now saves each photo with its description as the caption, so VoiceOver can read it back to you in Photos.

What's this? now answers your question first. Hold and ask "is the light on?" and you hear "No, it's off" instead of a description of the whole room. The model inside was retrained on real questions from blind people, and it's much better at yes or no questions, counting, and small lights like a coffee maker's Add Water light. The translator reads more than Spanish now. Pick French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic and more from Translate from at the top (iOS 18 and later). Each language downloads once from Apple, then works offline. Spanish still needs no download. In object detection, All, Indoor and Outdoor are one VoiceOver control now, What to look for. Swipe up or down to change it. Thanks to the AppleVis testers who asked for all three.

help me aim is new. you tell it what you're looking for, a face, a page, or anything you can say out loud, and it talks you into the shot and takes the picture itself once you're lined up. what's this now tells you when the page is cut off before it reads it, and the preview finally matches the picture you actually get. the countdown is rebuilt so three two one is evenly spaced and the buzz lands on the number, and the app no longer pulls your audio off airpods or a car stereo when it speaks. the wide angle button is hidden on phones with only one rear camera, since it couldn't do anything there. i build this from what people tell me. if something doesn't work with voiceover, or you want it to do something it doesn't do yet, email me at matt@ineedhemp.com and i'll get on it.

The reader now says numbers and addresses the way a person would. Street addresses, phone numbers and account numbers come out clearly, card and tracking numbers are no longer read as one huge number, and very long codes are skipped instead of read digit by digit. Spanish translation now keeps prices, dates, times and street names intact.

Fixed a crash when opening the Info Guide from the home screen. The flashlight now turns itself off when you leave a camera screen or close the app. Thanks to our AppleVis testers for reporting both.

A countdown before the photo: What's this? now counts three, two, one out loud with a tap you can feel each second, then takes the shot, so your hand is off the phone when it fires. Turn it off in Settings if you would rather. Describe a picture you already have: a new photo button reads any picture on your phone, not just what the camera is pointed at. One-tap flashlight: the light goes to full brightness with a single tap instead of making you pick a brightness first. And it no longer asks you to retake a photo. Dark, blurry or cut off, it describes what it can see.

point the camera at anything and press what's this? it reads the whole scene or the whole page and says one sentence out loud. bills, packages, street signs, a room you just walked into. it all runs on the phone. no wifi, no account, nothing leaves the device. also in this one: night mode adjusts itself to the light, the shutter fires the moment you press it, and the photo stays on screen while it talks.

Accessibility update: every button now has a spoken label for VoiceOver, so the app can be used without sight.
